Give Melady the will to walk
Donation protected
Hello my name is Melady Negron. I was born at 26 weeks premature, due to a silent rupture and my mom's placenta detaching. I was in the NICU for 2 month. On the day I was being release to go home with my family, the Neurologist explain to my parent that I had Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL). These are legions on the lower left side of my brain, that causes me to have Cerebral Palsy and me not meeting my milestones.
Since then, I have received Physical Therapy, Occasional Therapy, Speech Therapy, Developmental Therapy, Aqua Therapy and under went treatments like Botox Injections and surgeries like Selective Dorsal Rhytzotamy (SDR) to improve my gross motor skills.
While my siblings are playing with toys and having fun, I am working hard on treadmills, mat exercises and pools along with my therapists to pursue my dream of walking independently. As you can see, I have been working very hard to overcome my limitations. I will never give up!!!
My episode of care has ended which means I will no longer receive services to continue to improve my quality of life. As much as I have improved I know that I have the potential to do more with the challenge I was borned with.
So the next step in my journey to walking independently is Stem Cell Treatment and intensive therapy. These treatments are costly, time age sensitive and the insurance do not pay for.
I am appealing to your good will and any contributions that you give will get me closer the reaching my dream of walking on my own.
" I will never give up, please do not give up on me"
