Meet Fifa, the puppy I was lucky enough to find!
But first, let me tell you a little more about me...
My name is Rita and I am a portuguese veterinarian working for a charity named Animals Fiji. The charity's main goal is to provide basic health care to all animals in Fiji, as well as educate people on how to care for their animals. We do not get any help from the government which means we only relly on people's donations to continue our work. This also means that we work for very low salaries, just enough to live, as most of the donations go towards other expenses such as medicine or feeding the shelter animals.
Fifa was found undernourished, covered in fleas and mites. She nearly got hit by a car when I found her. She was so weak she could hardly stand up to eat and would just hide from everyone. She had never seen a kind human before, so it took a while until she started trusting me. But after some care and love she began to feel happier, playing and exploring the world! I fell in love with her and it was too late to rehome her: her home was with me!
I immediately started looking for a way of bringing her home with me (to Portugal) once my contract finishes at the end of February 2018. There is no way I am leaving without her! She is now part of the family! :)
Unfortunately, I discovered it costs more to transport a pet than a person... The estimated cost I was given was around FDJ $4000 (approximately 2000€). Because I am working for a charity I have a very limited income, which makes it impossible for me to sustain this kind of expense.
And this is where we need your help! We will need to fundraise 2000€ until the end of January (so I can have time to plan for her travels) to be able to bring Fifa to Portugal.
I am confident we can reach our goal and perhaps even go over it! Any money raised above our goal will be fully donated to Animals Fiji.
We promise we will keep you updated on everything and Fifa will be happy to pose for some pictures.
Please help me bring Fifa home!
