Hi! My name is Giuliana Salgado and I am a double bass player. I am 14 years old and I'm a freshman at Culver City High School. I am so grateful to CCUSD because of how much they support music and programs such as the AVPA, and for the wonderful music teachers, Dr. Fleischer, Dr. Spano and Mr. Witt. I am also so thankful to the Fineshriber Family Foundation for their generous donations of instruments for the music programs . Since I cannot afford a double bass, their donations have made it possible for students like me to have an opportunity to play an instrument.
I have just been accepted to the Interlochen Center for the Arts 6 week Summer Orchestra Program. Interlochen is a world renowned arts camp in Northern Michigan that auditions students from all over the country and even from around the world. It is a huge honor for me to be accepted into the Orchestra program, where I will have the opportunity to play in a symphony orchestra, take private lessons and play chamber music. To have been accepted to this program has been one of the opportunities that I am truly grateful and excited for. I would love more than anything to spend my summer studying music in a beautiful place with students from all over the world who share the same passion for music as I do. Going to Interlochen will also benefit me in the future as I plan to major in music in college.
The tuition and room/board for the summer program is $9,000. Interlochen awarded me a generous scholarship of $6,800, but my parents can't afford to pay the full balance, plus additional costs of airfare, instrument rental and uniforms. Raising funds of this magnitude is a challenge which I embrace wholeheartedly, but I could still use a little assistance. Therefore, I am looking for donors, such as you, to sponsor a portion of my experience.
I greatly appreciate any donation you are willing to contribute. Supporters like you are the reason that this can be possible and that my dream of attending Interlochen can become a reality. I really appreciate the time that you took to read my story and thank you in advance for your support.
