Good morning everyone. Last night, my beautiful, courageous and incredible wife Ginger went to be with the Lord. The past 21 months of battling cancer led to her last 24 hours of battling for her life by receiving intensive medical intervention to try keep her here. Throughout the day yesterday our families, some of Ginger's closest friends, and many nurses and doctors who've cared for her along the way were able to be with her while the medical team worked hard to save her life. Ultimately the doctors and nurses were unable to stabilize the emergent condition and at around 5pm they told us that she was dying and there was nothing more they could do. Her heart took its last beat at around 6:30pm while she laid peacefully in her bed. I walked out of the hospital room at around 10pm after giving her a kiss, saying my goodbyes, covering her body, turning off the light and walking out the door...the hardest thing I've ever had to do. The kids and I are heartbroken and are going to miss Mom, but we are at peace knowing she is at peace and that the book of her courageous battle with cancer has been closed. Ginger and I didn't hide much about her journey with them and they understand that Mommy is no longer physically here. Now, we'll experience her spirit and soul in the places we go, the people we see, the things we do, and the memories that we have made along our way. Although it's a difficult time, Ginger wouldn't want any of us to feel sad. She'd want you to remember her for the bubbly, cheerful and compassionate person that we have all been blessed to know. She would also want you all to know that prior to her sedation, she told us she was ready to fight for her life, but also at peace and prepared to go home to heaven. She is now there and looking down upon us. I thank each and everyone of you for the continued thoughts, support and prayers during this time. May God bless you all, and may God bless Ginger's soul!
