Gina Beldon is in desperate need of our assistance.  She has an urgent need for a very specialized (and expensive) surgery that could finally put her on the road to recovery after a difficult and painful last few years.

I am submitting this request on behalf of Gina, who could never bring herself to ask for the help she so desperately needs.  And not just for her, but for her husband, Todd, and their five beautiful children, who all deserve to have a wife and mother who is present and able to do all the things we take for granted.

I have known Gina since middle school, when we both entered 6th grade at East Coweta Middle School.  We went all the way through High School together and I watched her ultimately become the captain of our cheerleading squad and our homecoming queen.

Right now, we have to be her cheerleaders, and see her through as she fights the biggest battle of her life.

An update for everyone following Gina's Fight for Her Life:

We are really hoping Gina is in the final stretch of her health battle. Her body has been continuing to get stronger after the spinal fusion, which is great news. However, she is not out of the woods just yet. I think it has been mentioned before that dental issues have been an unfortunate side effect of everything else Gina has had to deal with, and even worse, the infections that have resulted could become life threatening if she delayed any treatments.

You can imagine how difficult it is for the Beldon family to have to rely on others as much as they have needed to and any time they've needed to ask for more help, it just gets harder because you've all been so generous already. But the fact is, they are still very much in need, and I'm coming to you all again on their behalf, hoping that we can help ease some of the strain.

In October, Gina had multiple teeth become abscessed, leading to another major infection that has become septic in her bloodstream and is non-responsive to antibiotics. There is major concern that the infection will go directly to the spinal fusion site. She has already had several teeth removed, and requires another oral surgery to be done on the tooth behind the one they just removed. That will leave her with no more molars, premolars, or canines and without the ability to chew food on either side of her mouth. Her dental team is going to attempt to make a partial, but she may wind up needing dentures instead - they won't know for sure until the oral surgeries are all done. Because she cannot risk the fusion becoming infected, it is extremely important for the surgeries to be done as quickly as possible.

These expenses are compounding as they go as well. Gina has been going to the dentist at least 3 times a week, is under monitoring at Northside Hospital, and every appointment just keeps adding to the mountain of dental bills they are already being buried under.

If you can make a contribution, please, the Beldon family will be forever grateful. We still believe that we are seeing a light at the end of this tunnel, Gina just has to keep fighting a little bit harder, for a little bit longer. I hope that the next update will bring great news of Gina's healing, but for now, I have to ask for your assistance one more time. Every ounce of support, financial or otherwise, means more than words can ever say.

Hi everyone,

I needed to give you an update on Gina's Fight For Her Life. There have been a lot of delays, first trying to kick the c-diff infection that was attacking her so viciously, then waiting and waiting on insurance and scheduling, but she is finally set to go back up to Rochester, Minnesota to the Mayo Clinic to get the surgery that she has been in desperate need of all this time.

Originally, the spine had detached from the pelvis on one side and was causing spinal fluid to leak; now she is detached on both sides, so it is a complicated and highly specialized surgery. So that equals SUPER EXPENSIVE.

Your generosity helped cover some of the costs and expenses that had already accumulated and have continued to accumulate in the interim, as she had to treat the infection and manage the pain. I know the Beldon family appreciates every donation, no matter how small, and will never be able to adequately express their gratitude. Unfortunately, their financial needs are still great, and we have to ask again for you to make a donation. There is no more deserving family, so please, if you can, consider making a contribution.

They are moving forward with the surgery in faith, because it really is the only hope for healing for Gina, but they are stepping out with a lot of fear, too. They will still have a large financial burden apart from the surgery itself. Between the cost of anesthesia, physical therapy (the length of which will depend on the surgery), and the practical needs of a hotel, food, and transportation during their stay at Mayo, the costs will continue to add up.

Thankfully, Todd will be able to travel with Gina, and stay for at least a little while during her early recovery. That, however, leaves a hole at home. Gina's mom will be there to manage the house and five children, but as you can imagine, it will not be an easy task. Friends, a meal train is in the works, but there may be some gaps that need to be filled in Todd and Gina's absence, so I hope some of you can find creative ways to help meet their needs and perhaps calm the anxiety that all of her children (especially the littles) are having to face.

Gina, we love you and are confident that this surgery will put you on the road to a beautiful healing. You've got this. Just keep fighting for a little while longer.

Dear Friends,

I wish I could update with positive news, however, Gina is continuing to struggle with her incredibly complicated health issues, that seem to continually compound and worsen. She is in the midst of a very scary battle right now, and she really needs our love, support, and encouragement, in whatever capacity that entails for you.

The details are overwhelming, and some of you may have already seen a little on Gina's facebook page, but you need to know how serious her current condition is. She is fighting as hard as she can, but this is an uphill battle, and she needs us behind her.

From Gina's most recent FB post:

Severely dehydrated from this Infection, despite how much water I’ve been drinking! My cells are just completely depleted!!! So after 4 bags of fluid and spending all night in the Hospital

Gina is still in desperate need of our help! On top of the urgent need for the spinal surgery, she has developed a serious infection of C-Difficile, that has come back with a vengeance. In addition, there is severe liver impairment. The liver levels had been up and doing better, but now they are severe. This bacterial C-Diff is a potentially deadly infection if not treated vigorously with Eastern and Western medicines.

The infection came back after a recent dental procedure, and Gina was more susceptible because she was previously exposed to C-Diff. So now, she is having another terrible attack of this infection!

After this many attacks, doctors are wanting her to have a "Fecal Transplant" when she is in Minnesota for the big back surgery. As you can imagine, the costs involved for these procedures is very expensive. Frankly, Gina is scared!!! She is scared to be in the state her body is in and not to have the means to get the proper care she needs.

We need your prayers, and if possible, any donations would be appreciated beyond any of our abilities to express.

Things are still in limbo as to when they may be able to get her on the schedule for the back surgery. Unfortunately, Minnesota was just hit with a major winter storm, and the Mayo Clinic felt the effects as well. They've just gotten behind and phone calls aren't being returned promptly.

Gina is feeling very down and helpless right now and is in an extreme amount of pain, so please, even if all you can offer is a word of encouragement, let her know how much she is loved. Tomorrow she is going in for another treatment to hopefully attack the infection that has gotten so out of control. Please be lifting her up. She needs us!!!

ps. - Gina's treatment plan for the C-Diff is pictured. This will hopefully kill the bacteria, other parasitic activity in the intestines, and get her liver enzymes back up and functioning again. She has to be healthy enough for the surgery before they will be able to do it. She CANNOT be sick with this or fever. Here is yet another costly bump on her road to healing: $75 per treatment; 3 days a week for 2 weeks, then 2 days a week for the next month!
