 Hi everyone, we are sad to announce that Gina Minchey passed away on Friday, March 29th, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. Gina fought for 3 years, and was supported each step of the way by her family, friends, and colleagues. She felt and appreciated all of your love, prayers, and support; which made a world of difference through her struggle.  The Minchey family wishes everyone their sincerest gratitude for the love and support that has been shared with them over the years, and the continued support to come.  

 
The Backstory:

We are sharing this Gofundme to honor and celebrate Gina’s career and devotion to equal opportunity education.

 
Gina’s path to becoming a teacher at Lake Nona Middle School was diverse and impactful to many. Throughout her career, Gina went where she could make an impact; that led her to be a Systems Analyst at a Naval Air Warfare Center, an Environmental Instructor, Homeschool Teacher, and eventually led her to teach Latin and math. At the same time, she traveled, helped raise her family, and prepared her two daughters for their experiences in life to come.

 
The vision:

This fund will benefit children and families at Lake Nona Middle School in several meaningful ways; each of which honor Gina’s vision of helping students to discover their potential. One of Gina’s goals was to always ensure that every child had an equal opportunity to receive a meaningful education, and a big part of that is ensuring that each child has the school supplies, books, and environment that sets them up for success as they continue through their years at school.  

 
As all teachers know, there are challenges involved in providing a meaningful education to each student. But these challenges motivated Gina to find unique solutions to bring the best out of those that came through her classroom.  Gina challenged her students and aimed to increase their confidence by working their “struggle muscle”. Her philosophy was to support them while overcoming each awaiting challenge, encourage students to creatively find their strengths, and to always make sure they felt supported along every step of the way.

Our goal is to continue Gina’s legacy as an educator and support structure for every child, regardless of their background. Your donations help ensure that each child in a Lake Nona Middle School classroom has the following:

·      Any food required to ensure each child has nutritional food for every day

·      Fictional/non fiction books to read for leisure

·      Basic items to improve the quality of life for students and their families
