Ashley's Birthday : To Dana-Farber

Donation protected
I turn 26 this year oh boy.

Thank you to Sam C for being my really long time childhood friend and for inspiring me to do the same.

This year I have no plans for my birthday, because I really don't need it. I can pay for a roof over my head, food, health insurance, cheetos...I live a pretty good life.

"The number of new cases of cancer (cancer incidence) is 454.8 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2008-2012 cases). The number of cancer deaths (cancer mortality) is 171.2 per 100,000 men and women per year (based on 2008-2012 deaths)"

Both of my parents fall under those numbers shown above. My father who fought through colon cancer and my mother who fought but lost to a rare cancer called GIST. My father is very lucky and grateful to be alive today, there's enough research and developement to keep him alive. For someone like my mother, in most cases rare cancers are hard to track and hard to diagnose properly. Most of the time, even people in the oncology field can only try to suggest medications that haven't been fully studied or approved by the FDA.

Hey, if there's no other options, a chance is a chance, right?

By giving to Dana-Farber, we can help invest to help research and development in giving people another chance to live. That is my goal for my birthday.

I've set the bar to raise $2500 by March 23 with 100% of proceeds going to Dana-Farber. I hope we can make that number!

I know gofundme takes a chunk of the money so I will donate the difference once we round up the final numbers.

Thank you for listening,
Ashley
