Gideon's Get Well Fund

Donation protected
Update 4: We have not reached the full original goal but based on the costs that have been incurred and the current projections we have closed the donation because we think we have raised enough money.  Most of the money raised went to plane tickets for the family and the rest went to paying for passports and other incidentals that might occur while the family is traveling to be with Gideon and while they are there, like having to feed a family of 5 who have to eat out three times a day.

Update 3: We need your help again, due to various events, the Deckerts look like they will require the original amount requested due to the increase in cost of plane tickets while they were finalizing passports and travel plans so we are reopening the gofundme page for donations. Please continue to share and try to help Gideon and his family reunite them as soon as possible.

Update 2:  Thank you to everyone who has donated to this cause.  There were some costs that actually were incurred by the Deckert family in trying to reunite them.  The main use for the money will be to purchase tickets for his family to get them from South Korea to San Diego.  Fortunately it seems like the money already collected should be enough to cover them all.  If that changes I will re-open the campaign and try to get the full amount.  Thank you again for all your help during this trying time.

Update:  I wanted to let everyone know that the Air Force is doing everything in its power to get Gideon's family to him in San Diego and was working the issue since it started.  This site was created as a precautionary method in case his family needed assistance.  Based on conversations that I have had, I am going to put this campaign on hold until we see how the events pan out.  If the Deckert's require the money we will provide it to them and re-open the campaign.  If they do not, we will either donate to Gideon's favorite charity or try to work with gofundme to refund your money.

My friend Gideon recently suffered a stroke while serving the US Air Force in South Korea.  Due to the fact that he was in the military, they sent him to get treatment in the US.  Unfortunately his family was unable to travel with him and they were left in South Korea.  We are trying to raise money so that they can be together again as soon as possible.  The quicker we can raise the funds, the quicker we can reunite this service member with his family.  After suffering a stroke, one of the worst things to do is have added stress, which is what is happening every minute he is separated from his family.  His wife and three children just want to be by his side while he is going through this terrible time in their lives and it only adds to the burden that it is so close to Christmas, a holiday they have luckily always been able to spend with each other, which is not the case for most military members.

These funds will help provide his family with plane tickets to the US and hopefully offset the costs of passports, hotels and other expenses that will occur while traveling (food, gas, rental cars, etc).  This situation was hard enough when the whole family was together in Korea but is only getting harder the longer they are away from each other. Gideon and his family need all the help they can get in this stressful time.

Gideon is a loving husband and father, a great friend and just in general a great person.  He has served his country proudly in the US Air Force for 14 years and hopes to continue to serve America and all Americans. Your help in reuniting this family during one of their hardest times would be greatly appreciated.
