SPECIAL NEEDS SHOW GHANA 2018

£585 of £5,842 goal

Raised by 11 people in 4 months
We are the Rex Yankey-Otoo (REYO) Foundation a UK  and Ghana not of profit organisation, who deliver Special Educational needs provision in Ghana. We are proud to be hosting our first Special Educational Needs Show in Ghana, April 2018.

We need your support to raise funds to deliver our scheduled show. We are passionate about all children receiving inclusive education, regardless of location, age and social demographics. There is limited insights into specialist  provision for children who have specific learning needs such as Autism, Dyslexia,  Dyspraxia and  ADHD.  With your help we can fund this event, we need  to transport specialist equiment and resources to exhibit at the show.  We will be able pay for the flights and accomodation of leading  UK Special Educational Needs specialists who will be our key speakers.  With your help  we would like  to reach our target of  £5,842.

The difference we can make will change the lives of  many. Ghana has an estimated total disabled population of 1.15-2.3 million. The World Bank acknowledges that there are currently 115 million school aged children out of school. Of those, 40 million (over 1/3) are estimated to have a disability, most of which are not visible or easy to diagnose (UNESO, 2010).  These figures do not tell the whole story as many cases of SEN are unreported due to  social sigma, especially in rural areas. With your financial contribution we can raise awareness, provide new solutions, strategies, techniques  and resources which are highly used in UK special educational needs schools.  Our show will be aimed at parents, carers, teachers, health professionals,  policy makers and government ministers.

About us
The Foundation was set up by husband and wife, Richard and Hannah Otoo. The couple have a child who has Autism, who they adore and has been the driving force behind the foundation.  With the of support of Paddock School, UK ,  in 2014 the couple were able to see their vision materialise with the  Reyo Paddock school  situated near east legon in Accra, Ghana. The Reyo Paddock School has been a lifeline to many parents and currently supports up 25 students, the school have specialist multi therapy support staff on site. who has been trained by the paddock school in the UK.The Reyo Paddock school provide outreach and training to schools across Ghana, with teachers from the Paddock school UK, spending time at the school as volunteers to support with on-going training and development.  The social impact the school has made in Ghana has been beneficial, however they know they have a long way to go, to put special educational needs in the hearts and minds of the public and on the government's agenda.

With your generous donation we can deliver a show with a difference, supporting inclusive education in Ghana. Individuals with specific learning difficulties have a gift and can have a significant role in African society.

Thank you for your support,
Richard and Hannah Otoo
