As some of you already know my six year old brother Kayden recently had a horrific accident. While playing at home he fell and injured his head. In the last week he has undergone brain surgery to try to fix the injury. After starting the surgery the doctors quickly realized there was nothing they could do for him. Kayden would need a miracle to survive.
After several MRIs the doctors have concluded that Kayden's brain is damaged although they cannot determine to what extent. He is still very much in danger so there is still very little the doctors can do for him. The one blessing is that he is at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital which is one of the best in the nation.
His neurosurgeon can still not determine the full extent of the damage, but knows that if Kayden does recover it will take a very long time. When I was at the hospital the doctors said Kayden's in hospital time could range from 1-12 months or even longer.
The hospital is in downtown Portland, but my family lives in Washington. Their expenses are mounting rapidly as they are currently living in the hospital. My family and I are currently helping all we can, but now I have to turn to others for help. Between non-covered medical expenses and expenses accured from living in the hospital the bill can grow quickly.
