Middle School Library Renovation

My name is Tiffany Savidge, the middle school reading specialist at Milton Middle School (grades 6-8). This is a year of many firsts; first year in this position and first time walking these middle school halls as the teacher instead of as the student. Let’s add another by being the first to bring life back to our middle school library through Gofundme!
Our library is located in the center of the school and should be the hub of our building, but it's in MAJOR need of a renovation! It is our goal to bring life to what should be the best room of our house by the end of the summer. We are in desperate need of new books, bean bags, couches, book shelves, display cases, and yes, more books! Your donation will help us to provide interesting texts and comfortable seating to almost 500 students! Let's renovate this room to create a reason to read!
With your generous donation, we can begin to purchase high-quality, high-interest books for our middle school students. We currently have exhausted our budget to begin to purchase some newer books but the library is still made up of books from the 50's and 60's. It was a start, but we can't keep up with the requests from our students to purchase series and newer nonfiction. We need your help! It is our plan to also install bookcases that are appropriate for the height of all of our students. Currently, our sixth graders are not able to reach the top shelf. :( We will flood the library with comfortable seating to entice any reader to pull up a bean bag and get lost in a good book. Of course this vision includes orange and black to show our panther pride (something our students take great pride in)!
As you can see from the picture, our shelves are in need of a major renovation! Please know that any donation will help us reach our goal of putting high-quality, high-interest books that are age-appropriate in the hands of our students, as well as providing them with a comfortable and positive environment to read them in.
