Get Well Soon EVA MAE

August 30, 2016 our lives changed in so many ways. We joyously and fearfully awaited the arrival of Eva Mae, despite the uncertainity of what her medical condition would be. As a family, we had prepared for the potential scenario of only having a few short minutes with her, but since her birth she has and continues to survive and fight against the odds. So we say, "Grow Eva, Grow."

At their 20 week anatomical scan her loving parents James and Jillian recieved some of the most devestating news a parent will ever hear. They were told Eva's future was unpredictable. They expressed that Eva may not continue to grow and if she survived birth they were unsure of what her future would hold. After many tests and scans they learned  there were concerns with the formation of Eva's eye structures, brain development, as well as her hands with no known diagnosis or syndrome to help navigate the doctors. Unfortunately, it was a wait and see kind of situation. Eva was born with the absence of her right eye,a severely underdeveloped left eye, a cleft soft pallet, and impared mobility of both of her hands among an array of other health concerns.

James and Jill are both extremely dedicated  RN's  here in Rochester, NY, however, due to the high level of care Eva requires, it is unforseen if Jill will return to work. James has now assumed full financial responsibity for their family and with several unexpected hospital stays already and 2 weeks in the nicu after birth, Eva's medical bills have exceeded the family's financial resources. That being said, James and Jill are fully commited to providing their daughter with the best possible medical care. James and Jill are exhausting every effort to ensure that Eva will be seen by multiple out of network medical specialists, including out of state. After the most recent hospitalization for unexplained seizures,  expenses to continue to rise. James, is my brother, and speaking from our family, they are two of the hardest working, devoted, people I know and they do not take "help" easily. They are the helpers and servants of so many. Now we are asking for help for them.
Eva's condition is still undiagnosed and there is no roadmap for treatment. In light of many unknowns, we rejoice in the recent news that Eva does in fact have the ability to hear.

Financial donations will assist in paying for Eva's  medical bills and opening many doors for specialists whom Eva will not be able to see due to current financial restrictions. They have already found several specialists in out of state hospitals and donations will be also used for travel expenses and compensation for any time off of work that James may require. Thank you for taking the time to read this story. We are asking from the bottom of our hearts for whatever you feel called to donate. Eva deserves every fighting chance at a better quality of life and even a dollar will help ensure that she gets that chance.
