Get Sam Broussard to the Grammys
Donation protected
I’m Grammy nominee Sam Broussard from Lafayette, Louisiana, life-long musician. My music partner and I have been nominated in the Regional Folk category for our album "Broken Promised Land." I ask for your help to attend the Los Angeles Grammy ceremony in February 2017. The Recording Academy doesn’t pay for nominee transportation and lodging.
"Broken Promised Land" has music created and played mostly by myself, and graced with Cajun French lyrics by noted folklorist Dr. Barry Jean Ancelet. Barry, my old schoolmate, is an elegant spokesman for Cajun French people. Our CD is rooted in tradition yet aims beyond. It’s serious without collapsing under its own weight, moving without being sentimental.
Your donations will be used for airfare and a hotel room near the Staples Center, plus miscellaneous expenses.
Seldom in a lifetime is there a moment where one can stand among those who create adult works of art. We don’t make real money, but that’s not why we do it.
I include Ben Sandmel’s generous review of our CD from the publication Louisiana Cultural Vistas, the “digital encyclopedia of Louisiana”: http://www.knowlouisiana.org/46068/ . The first track of our album can be heard in its entirety at https://soundcloud.com/user-632669961 . Our Facebook page is also under our names, Barry Jean Ancelet and Sam Broussard.
For those of you who will help me get to Los Angeles through your donations, you are a patron of the arts and a friend of mine.
