See this loaf of bread? It's an amazing artisan loaf, using a traditional recipe, one of our best friends and bakers, chef Patrick, with one of our test batches of gum free flour. Straight up - no changes to the liquids, no changes to the methods. It's REAL bread. Tastes great, too.
Better Batter has been around since 2008, and we're the gold standard in Gluten Free, Top Ten allergy friendly, cup for cup flours. We set the bar for clean food that meets your needs, and we've managed to do it while staying a small, mom-owned and operated, customer focused company. Just Google us - you'll see! We've even won a bunch of awards nationally just last year. Over the years our customers and fans have begged us to develop a gum free flour. So we started working hard on it last fall... And we think we finally cracked out!!
Although the flour was originally supposed to be for bread -with no changes at all! - we decided to try out a few other things and see if we couldn't do a 'cup for cup' flour without gums for cookies, pie etc. It's been a wild ride, but we did it! I am so eager to get this stuff into your hands. Anything we make will be - as always for all our products!! - allergy friendly for ALL top ten and appropriate for multiple dietary preferences (vegan, GMO free, Kosher OU parve, etc). Patrick and I are super stoked, but we also need your help -when I say we are small, mom run company, I'm not joking.
We didn't sell out to the big boys, we don't lower our standards to save costs, and we give a lot away to food banks and other giving projects, so we're basically cash flow neutral with products we already have. Testing new formulas is EXPENSIVE - we have to approve it in house with tons of testing, then we have to send it out to testers, and then IF it succeeds, we need to make videos to show you what it is and how it works - gotta build that trust, right? Then finally after ALL that, we have to pay for the first run. If we can't afford these steps, we can't get the product to market. Overall it's about $8000 - $15,000 outlay to get a product to market, without knowing if anyone will buy it.... and that's a lot for a small business like us, especially if we don't want to sacrifice something or someone else.

Stages I and II - COMPLETE
We have formulated two blends - a gum free blend with rice and a rice free, gum free blend.
We approved both of these for potential testing.

STAGE III - Beta testing:

Blend 1 was pretty good. Blend 2 not so much (it was great but I became allergic to it!)
Blend 3 is in testing right now
we were able to send out 3 Blends in 2 batches at a total cost of $5500

STAGE IV: Launching the product

At this stage we will be attempting to launch the product. We can do this very simply, or with bells and whistles (fancy packaging etc), depending on our cash flow.
Legal bill $625 -- COMPLETE!
Packaging - $7000 - IN PROGRESS
We have decided to launch this product quickly. To do this, we have produced the packaging as simply as possible - plain bag with a plain bulk label - but for permanent launch, we'd like to do a fancy zip-lock style pouch with recipes etc.
Advertising - $5,000 - PRELAUNCH
We currently don't have the funds to really launch this 'properly' with ad campaigns and get the word out. this means if you currently have this in your hands, we're counting on YOU to share like crazy! But we estimate we could reach a lot of people at a little less than $500 per month advertising on social over the next year. If you'd like to donate to this, please feel free to send a comment with your donation and we will earmark your funds for this. We probably will hold off on this part until the pretty packaging is complete.
Once all stages are complete, any monies raised above the cost of launching the product will be earmarked for giving/food bank donations - this is a longstanding tradition with us, and one we are proud to say we are passionately committed to!
