Get Ben to the Paralympics 2022

My name is Ben Shaw. On the 25 th February  2007 I was very seriously injured by a roadside bomb whilst on operations in Iraq with my Battalion 3 Rifles. This resulted in me having both eyes removed which left me facing a long recovery and rehabilitation process.


 Accepting and coming to terms with the things I could no longer do due to my sight loss has been devastating. Particularly snowboarding, which is something I have enjoyed doing since I was ten.


A chance email informed me of the Armed Forces Para Snowsports Team (AFPST) and after contacting them, I was determined to get back on the snow. Several training camps later, my goal is to take part in the 2022 Winter Paralympics in Beijing.


As you can imagine, this will be a difficult and challenging journey with a lot of training, support, equipment and travel required. However, I am excited for what lies ahead, and I am intent on reaching my goal. I have set up this page for anyone who would like to support me on my way.


All funds that I receive will be spent accordingly with all receipts kept to enable transparency.
