Friends and family.....as most of you know, Ben has a passion for all things Marching Band. He has (mostly) loved and enjoyed it from day one and recently vowed he would somehow make it a year-round activity. He also has a helpful nature and is always willing to do whats necessary to help the team. For this reason, when he saw an urgent plea for tuba players needed for Jersey Surf two weeks ago, he jumped in, submitted his video application and has been accepted!!
What is Jersey Surf?? It's a world class drum corp that performs and competes over the summer. To simplify, in their words - 10,000 Miles. 150 Members. 50 Staff. 30 Performances. Infinite Memories.

Normally students tryout and begin practicing in November. They attend one or two weekends a month from November through May to practice and get acclimated to their upcoming chaotic summer life. They also have opportunities to secure sponsors and fund-raise to cover some of the $4,100 cost and the parents have ample time to spread out the remaining balance. Unfortunately since Ben signed up late to fill a much needed tuba slot, he did not get the opportunity to fund-raise nor obtain any sponsors. The camp is working to secure some scholarships in his name but it still leaves quite a balance that is supposed to be paid by the time camp starts, though due to the circumstances they are providing an extension. While it wouldn't be considered a sponsorship, I'm asking those who can or want to, to consider donating to help offset some of this cost and show support for Ben in his passion.
This is an experience and opportunity that he is incredibly excited about even though the last minute scramble has us both a bit overwhelmed. He leaves Friday, June 7 for most of the summer on an adventure of a lifetime....and to successfully complete his mission of a year round marching band activity - Marching band 2018, DrumLine 2018/19 & now Jersey Surf. Once Jersey Surf is over and he comes home in August, he jumps right into his last marching band season practice for 2019 with Freedom HS, with zero time for a break in between. He really, truly LOVES this activity. Even if you cannot donate, we thank you for your time in reading this and supporting his love of music.
