Get Ben Lolesio to Nat’l HistoryDay

Donation protected
This fundraiser is in support of Ben Lolesio on behalf of the Parent Teacher Guild of Sacred Hearts School. We are very proud that our own Benjamin Lolesio was recently recognized as a winner in the State History Day Contest! After competing at the Maui District competition, Ben moved on to the state competition on Oahu in April. At the state contest, Ben’s exhibit, entitled “New Zealand’s 2nd Class Citizens,” won 3rd place in his division and qualified him to compete at the National History Day competition. He and and his teacher Mrs. Wurst will be traveling to Washington, DC in June to compete at the contest that is held at the University of Maryland College Park. We need your help to send him to D.C.! About Ben’s project, “New Zealand’s Second Class Citizens”: •The project is about the discrimination against Polynesians that moved to New Zealand to help when there was a shortage of laborers and the foundation of the Polynesian Panther Party. • Ben created an exhibit to share his information. • His project is one of four from Hawaii in the Exhibit category going to DC. • For registration, airfare and food expenses will be about $3000. Many of us at Sacred Hearts and in our parish know the Lolesio’s and what a valuable and giving part they are of our ‘Ohana. This fund is a mahalo to their family and support to a student for a job well done! **If there are any excess funds collected, they will be donated to next years SHS 8th Grade East coast trip.
