Georgia Grace Cafe Flood Recovery

Donation protected
On May 27, 2018, a massive storm drenched the Baltimore region, triggering flash floods in Ellicott City.  See video

Georgia Grace Cafe, owned by Paula Dwyer, opened on September 23, 2017. Her business experienced severe damage as a result of the flood. Georgia Grace Cafe is situated at the bottom of the hill of Old Ellicott City, which resulted in the business experiencing a significant amount of water damage. In the videos and pictures, her business is under the famous Ellicott City bridge and across the street from the iconic clock.

Paula's response when I asked if I can help her: "I’m planning to rebuild and open again. Everyone has been wonderful and gave us such a purpose. Chef Tony and I can’t let anyone down. We love this town and the people in it."

Please donate to help Paula and her staff rebuild and reopen Georgia Grace! Money raised will go towards supporting her employees, cleaning, structural fixes, and replacing all equipment and structures damaged or destroyed as a result of the floods.

"Nestled practically in the shadow of the train overpass at the foot of Ellicott City’s Main Street, Georgia Grace Cafe makes a welcome addition to a district that has been steadily rebounding since the 2016 flash flood. This cool, casual cafe is housed in an 1890 structure purchased by Paula Dwyer a few years before that storm, which left several feet of water on the floor as renovations were about to start. Dwyer wasn’t deterred. Named for Dwyer’s mother and daughter, the breakfast-and-lunch establishment with a Greek-influenced menu opened in September and has been generating a positive buzz since. It’s easy to taste why." - Baltimore Sun January 31, 2018, Tim Smith reporter

My name is Amy I set up this GoFundMe page for Paula with her support. I live in Ellicott City, and frequently visit Old Ellicott City for work and the amazing stores. I visited Georgia Grace Cafe within the month after it first opened, and immediately fell in love with the new addition to Old Ellicott City! It was cozy, friendly, and had delicious food. I proceeded to visit Georgia Grace many, many, more times in the following months, and thus got to know Paula and her staff well.
