George Cohey, The Eastern Shore's Uncle George

Donation protected
George Cohey is the best man that I have ever met, of course, I am biased as I am his one and only granddaughter. On December 31, 2018, this beautiful man was taken from us and given his wings that he so rightfully deserved. If you are reading this then it is likely that you know myself, my mother, my uncle, my grandparents or all of the above, and if you do, then you know how great of a man my poppop was. He was a lifetime member of both the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department and Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company. He was Caroline County famous for his cooking; chicken, beef, pork, you name it, he made it! He worked many jobs, always driving somewhere. He had this magical way of knowing where he was going without any of today's modern technologies. He always said he would work until the day that he died, I don't think he meant for it to be as literal as this. The most important parts of my poppop cannot be put into words, like the way that he would drop anything to help anyone, stranger or friend, expecting nothing in return. The way that he would always go without to make sure his family was happy and healthy. The way that his son was his best friend and always by his side and I was his whole world even though I was all grown up and busy starting a life of my own. If you know my poppop, then you know, I could write for days telling of heroic times that he saved lives and helped others or put a smile on someones face. As you know, my poppop died suddenly, with no warning at all. He left behind my nana, my Uncle DJ, and his two babies, Sissy and Tucker. He also had nothing to his name, including any sorts of finances and because of this, I reach out to the ones who were touched by him. This money will be used for Poppop's cremation (per his request) and his Celebration of Life Service, to be held graciously at the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department. Any money remaining will be kept in a separate account, controlled only by myself, for the use of caring for his son, DJ. I will be in charge of all money donated as I am in charge of all of the decisions to be made in regards to Poppop from here on out. Please, every amount counts.
