Geisha: Ayuda para gastos veterinarios

Los que bien me conocen saben lo importante que Geisha es para nosotros. Para los que no me conocen tan bien, les cuento.Geisha es una Pitbull/Boxer que rescatamos de la calle hace un poco más de 9 años. 
Sin saber mucho sobre el sacrificio de tener una mascota, llegó a mi vida para enseñarme compasión, paciencia y responsabilidad. 
Una perrita de alma noble, que ha sido mi compañera fiel, llenando mi hogar de felicidad y brindándome su amor incondicional cuando más lo he necesitado. 
 
Hace un poco más de dos semanas Geisha se cayó de la cama mientras dormía lo que le causó una fractura en el fémur de su pata derecha trasera. Al hacerle una radiografía en el Animal Emergency Clinic, la misma pata presentó inflamación en el hueso y una masa sospechosa a cáncer. Geisha fue referida a la Dr. Quiñones, especialista en cirugía del Veterinary Specialty Hospital.  
La única opción que nos dieron para darle la calidad de vida que se merece, eliminarle el dolor y controlar el cáncer fue la amuptación de su pata trasera, proceso que fue llevado a cabo el pasado miércoles, 7 de agosto 2019.
Sorprendentemente, el mismo día de la cirugía Geisha despertó de la anestesia estable y muy alerta. En solo un par de horas ya se paraba solita con sus 3 patas y caminada en el patio para hacer sus necesidades! 
Quisiera aclarar que aparte de sus condiciones, Geisha es una perra muy alerta, alegre y llena de mucha energía.
Su ánimo y fuerza no deja de sorprendernos. Llegó a enseñarnos a apreciar y disfrutar la vida con sus altas y bajas.
 
Todo el proceso de estudios, laboratorios, cirugía y medicamentos, además de ser emocionalmente drenante, ha sido muy costoso y aún falta comenzar el tratamiento de quimioterapia. Proceso que sería cada 3 semanas, con una semana entremedio de monitoreo. 
Aparte de estos procesos recientes, Geisha es una perrita Senior (estimamos que tiene entre 11-13 años) con condiciones ya existentes y estables.

Tratamientos ya existentes debido a la vejez:
-Tratamiento para Artritis (por un mínimo de 8 semanas)
-Comida especial para mantener sus riñones estables. (Renal Support de Science Diet)

Those who know me well know how important Geisha is to us. Geisha is a Pitbull/Boxer that we rescued from the street a little over 9 years ago. Without knowing much about the sacrifices of having a pet, Geisha came into my life to teach me compassion, patience and responsibility. A dog with a noble soul. She has been my faithful companion, filling my home with happiness and giving me her unconditional love when I have needed it most.

A little over two weeks ago, Geisha fell out of bed while sleeping, causing a femur fracture in her right hind leg. When doing an x-ray at the Animal Emergency Clinic, the same leg showed inflammation in the bone and a suspicious cancer mass. Geisha was referred to Dr. Quiñones, a surgery specialist at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital.

After confirming the diagnosis, we were told our only option to provide Geisha with the quality of life she deserves, eliminating her pain and controlling her cancer was through amputating her hind leg. Her surgery was last Wednesday, August 7, 2019. Thankfully, Geisha woke up from surgery both stable and very alert. Within a couple of hours, she was already standing alone on three legs and walking to take care of business! I would like to clarify that aside from her cancer and amputation, Geisha is very alert, cheerful and full of energy.

Geisha came to teach us to appreciate and enjoy life with its ups and downs. Her mood and strength never ceases to amaze us.

In addition to being emotionally draining, the entire process of diagnostic exams, laboratories, surgery and medications has been very expensive… and chemotherapy treatment has yet to begin. Chemo will take place every 3 weeks, with one week in between for monitoring.

Through this GoFund, I humbly ask for help in paying for veterinary expenses and continuing to provide the quality of life that Geisha deserves. Geisha is a senior dog (we estimate she is between 11-13 years old) with already existing and stable conditions. Existing treatments due to old age include:
-Arthritis treatment (for a minimum of 8 weeks) 
-Special meal to keep kidneys stable (Renal Support of Science Diet)
