Campaign Story: Gary "Uncle G" Brown - The Final Move

Medical Issues: Arthritis/Nerve Damage/Wear And Tear Injuries.

Treatment: Warmer all year round climate (effective immediately would be NICE).

Projected End of Campaign: 14 March 2019 at 11:59 PM - The Final Move, should all go well, meaning I have the financial means of doing so, will HAPPEN the first week of April. Possibly a few days sooner.

Update (15 March 2019)

Thanks to all contributors, and to those who shared the link to this, my first crowdfunding campaign. The money raised will be used on the trip to my new place of residence. Considered Henderson, and Paradise.  The best deal; Las Vegas.

Further Donations: I'm not pushing this crowdfunding campaign anymore. Did its job. Between now (the 15th) and the 2nd of next month, my time is best spent figuring out the 850 mile (give or take a few in any direction), one-way trip.  In this time should U wish to still contribute...please do so.  Additional donations would be MUCH appreciated (and frankly are still well needed so I can accomplish everything I intend to that's associated with the actual move, and then getting myself set up in my new 'forever' hometown).

The Final Move (by Gary "Uncle G" Brown)

I'm waking up every damn day lately, in pain. Let me explain.

When I first arrived in Colorado (Sept 2016) from Pennsylvania, I had a five-year plan. Was separated (marriage number two). Married one day shy of 22 years. No children. We helped raise a few.

My first marriage on paper was a decade and a half. So I've been married most of my adult life, between the two. Embarrassing to publicly admit, financially, the hard truth is I have very little or practically nothing to show as a result. Houses, vehicles, and anything of value came and went. As did the 3, 4, and even low 5 figure bank accounts. I'm not crying about that. Facing reality, the injuries (legally disabled) that I accumulated over the decades, are not getting any better. The trick is to address whatever issues, and move forward the best you can.

To look at me sometimes, it's hard to tell. I've been legally disabled since the latter part of 2011. Two lower back surgery's that year did absolutely nothing. The 'wear and tear injuries' comes naturally, and is in part due to the aging process. Happens to everyone. Year after year of physical labor takes its toll. Then one day, your life takes a turn for the worse. For me, it was when I almost fell down a flight of metal stairs at NAPA Auto Parts, back in the year 2011. MRI's and an army of doctors since. Was on opiates for 2 full years. Unless in the worse pain ever, I pass on that stuff nowadays; temporary relief_nasty side effects. You trust what they (the doctors) say. Fact is, the doctors that we hold in such high esteem, don't give the best advice all the time. Without modern medicine, I'd be dead. My current health insurance (Medicare_Humana) sucks through a long plastic straw. It's the co-pays I can't afford, that will be the death of me. Life in 2019 has become a series of good and bad days. Those with problems akin to mine can certainly relate.

Physically I cannot do blue collar work anymore. Breaks my heart. It was when I was a child, that I started doing tasks for money.  My first full time (40 hour) job was in a breakfast and lunch place called, Gab n' Eat, back in 1977; washing dishes/busboy. Many times in my life, I worked two jobs at a time; seven days a week. Whatever it took to pay the bills. Again, except for the scars, aches and pains, and memories, I have squat. Well, not entirely. I'm fine with my life, up to this point. If I had to do all again...???

My Bio

https://garyunclegbrownarchives.com/about-the-author/

Crap hit the fan (financially) with the second wife (no hard feelings) pretty hard. Once divorced; $20,000 in debt. She took no responsibility whatsoever. I'm still waiting on that PayPal alert. She also kept the car we shared. A paid off 2005 Hyundai Elantra, with over a hundred thousand miles on it. Well maintained (it was). I've been without a car since the end of November, back in 2015. The plus side; very little carbon footprint.

From that time (the end of November 2015 to now), I have spent cleaning up; divorced (13 Feb 2017) and BK: Chapter 7 (just dismissed).

Saving money has been difficult at best. The month ends and I like many others, have barely anything to throw in a savings account. The BK left me close to being penniless. I've hit rock bottom before.

I can handle my immediate bills; housing, food, etc.. Lucky (blessed) to have the ways and means (monthly disability) to keep my head above water. So I'm not starving. And I rent a nice place. Had some help along the way, in which I have always been appreciative. No real family. Thank God for friends and brother/sisters from another mother.

I'm a full-time writer now; starving artist. I have lots of faith that I will excel, provided I get the opportunity to keep doing so. I believe this Go Fund Me - The Final Move will open doors. and also help make sure that this will be my last winter in Colorado.  GREAT state! My arthritis and other injuries...the almost daily below freezing temperatures are killing me, this year. Hense; waking up daily in pain. That, and getting around just for necessities has become a real bitch. And costly; Uber/Lyft.

In order for me to move (asap) and make this life-altering change, I am here asking for donations.  A step up, and not a handout. An investment in good entertainment (if into that).

Go Fund Me: I know lots of people who did this, more than once. Many disappointments, as well as huge successes. Lots of campaigns that deserve attention. I admit, in more dire straights then myself. I have a face. I have a history. I'm an American with Irish ancestry. Middle-aged white male. Regardless of what you hear, not entirely a bad thing. Jerk offs and douche bags in every race/culture.

From Aerosmith's Steven Tyler: "If you can judge a wise man by the color of his skin than Mister you're a better man than I."

Writing Resume'

I archived 140 stories so far that could be found on my archival website. Ages 16+ (for whoever is interested).  Should you not like one article, just move on to the next. Odds are sooner or later you'll find something that you're interested in. Seek, and you shall find.

I don't have a history of cyber-begging for money. I see this as an antidote to today's woes. Why prolong the inevitable? Lately, I find myself between a rock and hard place. Figured I'd GoFundMe a try. Am the creative type; obviously. On this highly popular website, being a writer helps. Am curious as to what I can accomplish.

Disclosure: I have contributed to 3 GoFundMe Campaigns in the past. Two music (Jon Anderson_Dweezil Zappa), and one indie film; Troma .

I tried to keep the amount I am requesting, reasonability low. Would be incredible if able to make the goal. My plans would kick in immediately. Pack up and MOVE! Nevada here I come! Right outside Las Vegas, I would love more than anything, to relocate.  My writing fits under the pop culture umbrella. What a place to be! The opportunity to make money will be there; freelance writer. I can do this; The Final Move ($1,500).

Be nice to have a cushion in case of an emergency (in which this Go Fund Me campaign would also provide, should there be any funds left over afterward). And not that this 'goal' would also secure me an automobile (I so miss driving), but hopefully when all said and done, I'll have a few bucks left over to put towards having wheels again.

Go Fund Me ($1.500)

What it will do; help me move to Nevada...now! Rent a car. Make the trip. Get out of the extreme cold weather. I knew when I came here (Colorado) that it would be freezing seven months a year. Handled it up to now.  Plus I did winter in Pennivanyia (2015-2016), before coming here. Today...hard to walk, and get around. The pains getting old. No fun! Problem/Solution: Let's try the extreme heat.

Positive Results

Am sure the relocation will show positive effects almost immediately regarding my physical, and mental state. That will reflect on my website, Twitter page, freelance work, etc..After settling in (of course).

There will come a time when I won't physically be able to move to another state, yet again. Takes effort. More a young man's job. I CAN STILL do this...with your help.  I promise to be super careful and take my time. Might even be openminded to paying someone a few bucks to help out; lifting, loading, etc...

Just Sayin'

If I could borrow the $1,500 bucks, from some kind of above-board financial institution, I'd skip this and do that in a heartbeat. Should I be able to afford the payments? My credit is on the rebound. Only those who offer outrageous credit arrangements (which should be illegal) are available to me, at the moment.

One Last Time

The money I am requesting is financing a move, from Greeley Colorado to someplace safe/nice outside Las Vegas. Someplace within an hours drive of Sin City. I have picked a general location. Am still researching.

Sharing/RT: If you know someone who can assist, please feel free to pass on the link. That will be your contribution. Much appreciated!

Updates including cell phone videos and photos from the trip will be posted on my personal Twitter page. All contributors will be publicly acknowledged on there as well unless wanting to be anonymous.

Expectations: I not only get my goal but exceed it. Would include enough cash to grab some stuff I left behind in Pennsylvania. Plus visit my parent's graves in New Jersey. And last but not least, end up in a single wide trailer I could call my own.
