Hello! We're Jared + Suzanne Garland! We've been married for almost 9 years and we've just entered our 8th year of our infertility journey. We have been nervous about starting a GoFundMe for our journey, but have realized, sometimes you just need to ask for help.

Let me tell you a little bit about us and our journey....

Jared + I met in 9th grade algebra! We were friends all through high school, only starting a relationship after we had graduated. Jared joined the United States Marine Corps after graduation and within a couple years we were married and living in Hawaii. Hawaii was our first duty station and where we made the decision that we wanted to start a family. Our journey began in 2010. We tried naturally and nothing was happening.

In 2011 we moved to Parris Island, SC to Jared's new duty station. We began trying again, but lets face it, we never really stop trying. By "trying" I mean being intentional. We continued to try naturally and nothing was happening. So we both sought out a doctor. Everything was fine. Just stress and timing they said.

By 2012 we were moving yet again to a new duty station at Camp Lejeune, NC. This is when we were ready to get serious with "trying". We did 3 months of clomid and nothing happened besides some serious mood swings and hormonal imbalances. Our doctor then referred us to a specialist in Wilmington. That is when we decided to do IUI - Intrauterine Insemination. He explained that it usually takes three rounds for it to work. We were so excited about doing an IUI! We just knew this would work. Our dreams were crushed when the first round didn't take. Mind you, we knew it was a chance. So as soon as the next month rolled around, we were ready for round two. That one failed as well. The third round fell over Christmas break and we made the decision that we wanted to wait. We were both under a lot a stress and had been very discouraged with the other two. Also, Jared was being sent to Afghanistan the following April and things were beginning to be too much for me.

Deployment came and went, then Jared decided to leave the Marines. Life got crazy and we didn't pursue doctors help from 2013 - 2015. All the while we were trying naturally with ovulation testing. In 2016 we found a new specialist in Montana who immediately diagnosed my Endometriosis. Finally we had some answers! By that August I was having surgery to remove it.  In January 2017 we had moved back to NC and we were seeing a new specialist in Asheville. He recommended we do more rounds of IUIs since my body was clean from my Endo surgery. So we started. After three failed rounds, we had came to the conclusion that we needed a more aggressive approach. The answer was IVF.

So in May 2017, our IVF journey began. We did what is called Simply IVF. Its a little less aggressive and easier on  your body. Also your body naturally lets the eggs and sperm meet to form an embryo in a small cell that your body holds. We knew this was the right decision for us. Our journey began with daily shots, making plans around our shot schedule and A LOT of emotions. My body produced 10 eggs. We were so happy with the outcome! Out of 10, 6 fertilized and 3 matured. The third wasn't mature enough so we made the decision to let it go. So here we were, TWO MATURED EMBRYOS! Our babies! We were over the moon just about that! Our doctor recommended that we transfer one at a time since we only had two. So that's what we did. The we waited the longest two weeks of our lives. We will never forgot the day we got the call that the baby didn't make it. It was the lowest and darkest time of my life thus far. It killed us. But we wanted to jump back on it as soon as we could. And I thought I was ready. Little did I know how much emotional & spiritual healing we both needed. I needed physical healing as well. And there was the subject of money. Jared was getting ready to start a new job in January 2018 and we weren't in the best place to start this. So we've waited.

During that wait, my endometriosis came back in late 2017. And it came back worse than before. So it was surgery again for me by March 2018. My latest surgery went really well and my doctor seemed very optimistic. He encouraged us to try naturally for a few months and then to do our transfer if nothing happened. So here we are, that time is slowly approaching. We have been talking a lot about adoption and our hearts are in it 100%, but we also know we have a baby that is waiting on us in a freezer of other babies. Our baby. The baby God created for us.

So we have made the decision that our next step should be our embryo transfer. With that comes thousands of dollars in medication, doctor bills, lab work and so much more that insurance doesn't cover. We are asking for your help and would greatly appreciate it if you feel led to donate. We are asking for your prayers as well as we begin this journey this winter.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. And for those that have been with us or followed our journey from the beginning, we love you so much. We have felt every sweet word and prayer. This journey has grown Jared and I as individuals and as a couple. We have grown in our faith more than ever through each pain that we have faced. Each penny donated would mean the world to us. We are ready to have our family complete if that's the Lords will.
