Sometimes it takes a village…
We are the parents of Twin 17 yearold boys suffering with Chronic Lyme disease. They can barely walk, go numb, get dizzy, and suffer migranes everyday.
This chronic pain has been with them for years. Misdiagnosed for years, Oliver is in a wheelchair and deteriorating quickly. He is in pain from head to toe 24/7.
Zachary who was a straight A student suffers from chronic migraines due to Bartonella (a co-infection of Lyme) in his brain. He can't sleep, or read. He is constantly exhausted and often sleeps 18 hours a day.
Both of our boys are not able to attend school due to the pain and neurological challenges. We have been treating Lyme with a number of Lyme specialists physicians in the US for more than 3 years now. Sadly, many people battling chronic Lyme disease face these same challenges. The children are just getting worse.
They are taking ongoing doses of antibiotics, supplements and natural compounds, none of which are covered by insurance. In fact, insurance companies do not treat more than 3 weeks of antibiotics and do not even reoogninize Chronic Lyme or Tick borne co-infections. We have sold our home, gone through our savings, been turned down for loans, and now we are humbly asking for your help.
Here's the good news and the reason we are reaching out. There are a two clinics in Germany that perform a number of life-saving treatments for Lyme (that are also used to treat cancer,) but unfortunately are not yet available in the US.
The cost of 3 weeks of intensive treatments is $30,000 for each child, but Oliver is our priority and any money we raise will go toward getting him to Germany as quickly as possible. We understand that raising $60,000 dollars is a lot of money and wouldn’t be doing this if we had any other choice.
To defer as much of the cost as possible, we are also accepting air miles to cover the cost of travel and accommodations.
Asking for help is very hard for us to do, but there is nothing as awful as watching your children deteriorate in front of you.
Knowing that there are viable options just out of our reach has us feeling extremely powerless.
