Third Time's A Charm
I'm planning to go on a few mission trips to Haiti in 2017. For the past two years, thanks to several friends and family members, I have been blessed, financially, with the means to go. It is such a wonderful feeling to know that people support my visions and plans. "A friend loves at all times." (Proverbs 17:17)
I have had such an awesome time spreading God's love on my trips to Haiti, so I decided, through prayer, that it would be a great opportunity to continue my mission work with two trips planned for 2017 (instead of the usual one). "And then I heard the voice of the Master: 'Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?' I spoke up, 'I'll go. Send me!'" (Isaiah 6:8) I am very excited because on the first trip, I will be travelling to a completely different area of the country with a new group of missionaries.
Who's Coming Along?
-On my first trip (Spring 2017), I will be travelling with the Sixth District of the CME Church (based in Georgia).
-On my second trip (June 2017), I will be travelling with my Atlanta Church, Ben Hill United Methodist (and others too).
-Some of our partners in Haiti include Haitian Christian Mission , Hope House Haiti , and Foundation for Peace .
What Are Some Things That Will I Be Doing?
With recent events that have occured from Hurricane Matthew (October 2016), I am not sure what will be awaiting me when I arrive on the first trip. However, here are some things that I have done in the past and what I hope to continue doing in the future as well:
-Volunteering at orphanages
-Volunteering at a local school
-Supplying locals with school supplies, clothing, and food.
"Let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in Heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
Ways You Can Help:
PRAYER
- Pray that my financial obligations for these mission trips are met
- Pray for safe travel mercies to and from Haiti for both groups
- Pray that we have a heart warming experience as we minister to others
"Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." (Proverbs 4:6)
DONATIONS
- Your gracious donations will help pay for my room, board, and transportation in Haiti, shipping fees for us to transport our supplies and donations that we are taking, and donation materials - such as food (purchased, locally, in Haiti), toiletries, sheets/blankets, shoes, clothes, baby items, books, and school supplies.
"Take an offering for me; from every person whose heart makes him willing you are to receive my offering." (Exodus 25:2)
"And they came forward—every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whose spirit was willing; they brought the offering for the Lord." (Exodus 35:20)
Updates
*My first goal of $500, for the first trip, has been covered by sponsors as well as fundraising we've done as a team.
*The Spring trip was postponed to Summer (July) due to some conflicts with the travel ban and members of our team. The final decision was made by the bishop (not me). Please pray that we can continue to work to plan to fulfill our mission trip.
I will continue to update the page here for information on other financial deadlines. (I'll continue to add to the total so that I can keep the same page link.)
