Hi! My name is Maria and I’m from El Salvador.
I’m part of the staff of the Non-Profit Organization “Share Smiles” located in El Salvador, Central America.
As a Salvadoran I feel the commitment to help our people and through Share Smiles I can “Give something back”.
Share Smiles sponsor communities in need through education and providing sustainability through tourism. This is why the rural communities and schools that Share Smiles works with are located in areas with tourism potential. Currently we sponsor around 300 students located in two areas of the country: Volcanoes National Park in Western El Salvador and El Icacal Beach in Eastern El Salvador.
The main goal for Share Smiles is to keep children in school and graduate them from high school, while at the same time prepare them in tourism so that they can take advantage of the economic opportunities of a growing industry in the country.
Through GoFundMe we are trying to raise funds to help us accomplish our annual activities.
Share Smiles has 5 programs that focuses on:
a) Attending school, b) Values and principals, c) Sports, d) English language and computer skills and
e) development around tourism skills. Each program has specific activities that encourage children to stay in school, identify hidden talents, open their minds and learn about the world and its opportunities.
The specific activities we are raising funds focus on the beginning of the school year:
- Hiring a permanent computer lessons and English language teacher.
- Backpacks and additional school supplies.
- Educational Field Trips to encourage children to enroll in school.
- Sports tournament and equipment.
