On March 7th Gloria Kontaratos came in for a Hysterectomy. The next day she woke up in pain and had no feeling in her lower legs and feet. After 5 hrs of enduring this pain in post op, she was moved to another floor. Then it was a proactive nurse who listened to her complaints and cries and took action. She saved her life. After testing they discovered a blood clot the size of a golf ball in her Thoracic Artery outside her heart. Pieces broke off and traveled down her body causing Compartment Syndrome and damaging use of her feet. Amputation is still a possibility.

They next performed 2 Fasciotomy surgeries on both sides of her legs. Due to the amount of blood clots, both were not a success. Removing the blood clot by her heart has a high risk factor. She was placed on blood thinners and being monitored daily to see if there is any change. Wound Vacs where placed inside her legs to help bring swelling down for closure. After 2 weeks of wound vacs closure was not a success due to the swelling. They then performed another surgery attaching Derma Closure devices. She still has no feeling in her feet. It's a day by day process waiting on wounds to reach the point for closure.

Once released from hospital she will have to go directly to a Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Center to learn how to reuse her legs and feet before returning home. She will have to live with the golf ball sized blood clot hoping blood thinner will prevent something like this happening again. She tested positive for a P.F Gene

This has been an uphill battle since day one. 5 surgeries in 3 weeks. Her physical therapy has been pushed back weeks due to delayed wound closures. The devices used on her recovery cause extreme daily pain.

Life events always happen and no one is ever prepared for them. We definitely were taken back by this blow that struck both of us hard. Reality is also starting to set in. Gloria will be out of work for months maybe even more. Bills are already building up. We are reaching out to anyone who can assist us in our future trials. We are asking for any financial help to keep her health insurance going, Medical bills, Home bills, Medical equipment, Rehab, Adapting our home for her physical needs, transportation etc. Shes fighting hard. She is working on keeping her mental and spiritual attitude positive as we continue receive unsettling news regarding her health.
Thank you for reading this. Anything will help even sharing this. Gloria is the strongest person and has the biggest heart. We hope to get through this storm with your love and support.

Thank you.
