Milo's Surgery Fund

Donation protected
The last few days have been a whirlwind. I wasn't even the one hit by a vehicle but it sure feels like it.

Late Monday night, Milo was hit by a car that sped off quickly before we could catch the plates. He laid lifeless in the road as my dad scooped him up and we rushed to a nearby Urgent Care in Banning. Dr. Ryan informed us that Milo had three severe fractures on both sides of his pelvis and three broken ribs. Seeing the black tire tracks on his white fur made me livid, but I knew I had to drop my emotions for the sake of sanity & hope. There has been several mini miracles since I let go and trusted.

He had stopped breathing and stayed in an oxygen cage overnight. The doctor warned us that it might be possible to transfer him to surgery the next day but there was determining factors, which also included keeping in mind the quality of life he would have AFTER the possible surgery.

The next day, he was able to breathe on his own (and wagged his tail when we visited; mini miracle Number One), but there was ZERO movement in his hind legs, which made us assume the possibility he was paralyzed.

We transfered him to get more results and treatments in Tustin from another incredibly knowledgeable doctor, Dr. Cambridge, at Veterinary Surgical Specialists. I have to take a timeout and thank the staff at this facility and at Banning Veterinary Hopital for being so compassionate to not only my dog, but to myself and my family.
(props for my pops taking candids)

Mini miracle Number Two: three days after getting hit there was movement in three of his legs! Movement in the legs was exactly what we needed to see, which provides quality of life! I didn't allow myself to get overly excited but there was HOPE.

Mini miracle Number Three: We visited him again and he was loopy on meds; bloody, bruised and swollen all over. So I made him his favorite (scrambled eggs) since the nurses told us he hadn't been eating. Well, my little fluffball ate a couple bites, but it gets BETTER.
As we were assessing with Dr. Cambridge he tried testing his mobility. He guided him to see if he could walk towards us, and all four limbs worked (weakly but something)! It was the feeling of seeing your toddler being guided by your partner taking their first steps.

So from this point on we knew that he was not only still his lively, sweet self in high spirits, but FIGHTING to keep going.
This is incredibly hard to ask for, but I am not in a place where I can afford the surgery needed. I'm in my first year post-grad & working my first real job living pay check to pay check, which makes this difficult.

When we first moved out here from North Dakota, getting a dog (Milo) was one agreed condition for me to relocate. Milo has broughten us warmth, sweetness & humor in a difficult transition.
We need $7,150 for just the surgery fees and post-op recovery. If you can offer even a few dollars to spare it would be greatly appreciated.

If you cannot help, please continue to send your prayers  for Milo's recovery.

In this darkness, I have found such beauty. And that is because all of the tremendous support from you all.
Thank you to my wonderful friends, co-workers, family & extended outreach because we wouldn't have made it this far to even get the chance to have Milo back & for these mini miracles.

I use to tease him for his little "bird bones" and dainty ways he would run, but he has shown what a fighter he is. I want and need that fighter back in our home.
We need the funds quickly before it's too late for surgery, but with the finance plan I set up, it will be something Milo needs for the next six months.

Thank you kindly for the people who have surrounded us with love and concern. I am grateful to all of you with all of my ounces.

And to the person who hit him and cowardly drove away, I forgive you. I'm sure (or hope) you were just scared and panicked.

Thank you kindly, once again for your support. Praying for blessings onto you.
