Surgery: Third Time is the Charm!
Hey everyone! Thank you for stopping by!
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with a bone disease called Fibrous Dysplasia in early 2006. I was operated on May 6th, 2006 to remove a very large tumor from my skull. I had a follow up appointment at Stanford University in 2009 and had another sugery, though that was minor. I recently started noticing some symptoms of the tumor returning. The bump on my forehead has grown and I have devolped a twitch in my neck again. So I had a CT scan done, and went down to Stanford again for a follow up. The results were shocking. The tumor is back in multiple places. Compared to the CT in 2009, the tumor is pushing on my brain to 2-3 major places, as well as actually protruding off the inside of my skull and growing into my brain.
I am shocked. I can't believe I need to have surgery again. Dr Khosla(Maxillo-facial plastic surgeon) says I will be out of work for at least 2-3 weeks. Then no heavy lifing for at least 4 weeks after that. I work on an ambulance... I lift people all day. So I will have to be on light duty when I return to work, which makes significantly less per pay check.
Surgery date is December 4th!
Because of all the medical issues I've had this year, I'm out of PTO. Thus I will have zero income during those first 2-3 weeks to pay rent and bills, and buy groceries, gas, prescriptions, ect.
I'm setting this page up to ask for donations to help my recovery process. I set the amount for about 3 weeks of work but more would help during my ongoing recovery. Anything helps!
If anyone has any questions, feel free to email/Facebook/ text me!
Thank you all for your love, prayers, and support.
I have a follow up appointment on Tuesday with my Neurosurgeon.
Anyway! I'm now home and settling. My entire surgical team, post op ICU team, and all the other Neuro and Plastics Doctors who tended to me post op were amazed at my recovery. My pain was very easily controlled, and I was standing in the ICU before anyone thought I was going to be able to.
I'm so thankful for everyone who helped support me during this trying time in my life. I love you all so much!
Follow up appointment with my Neurosurgeon is on the 16th, and I will be posting updates then!
Happy Holidays everyone!!
Thanks again for the love and support. We are humbled. :-)
