HELP LARRY THROUGH CANCER
Most of you know me as a dancer, teacher, family, friend or survivor of “Body by Me – Torture by Larry :-) .” I am thankful for your presence in my life and treasure each and every one of you more than you will ever know<3.
In July of this year, I was diagnosed with Classic Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (a 90% cure rate form of cancer). Being told that I would need to take 4-6 months off or keep a low profile, is not what a dancer of over 48 years and a teacher of over 30 years is wanting to hear. After having surgery to determine the form of cancer in July, I have been receiving bi-weekly chemo treatments since August 14th and on alternating weekends I receive 3 neupogen shots for the white blood cells to increase and assist in the body’s fight against infection.
To date and with a lot of prayers behind me, I am still able to teach 11 classes in 4 days and have started rehearsals for the ballet I created last year that will be presented again this December in Syracuse. This work is what is keeping me going - and if you know me, as most of you do, I am going to kick cancer’s gluteus maximus (even while it is kicking mine), as I have had the pleasure of kicking most of yours :-)!!
Unfortunately, I have a high deductible and out of pocket expense with my insurance carrier. As grateful as I am to have insurance, there is a lot left over to reach in payment. Your non-deductible “gift” to my Go Fund Me Campaign would assist me primarily with the medical bills coming in, upcoming Syracuse winter weather preparation and snow removal (as I am not able to even push a lawn mower at this point :-( ) and other daily expenses that may be incurred during this time. It is anticipated the chemo may continue into December or possibly through February – at this time it is undetermined.
I never thought I would be one writing anything along these lines and whether you are in a position to contribute or not, I would be grateful and blessed if you could send your prayers, support, healing vibes and love my way.
I’ll do my best to keep you posted and know that my love & abs are with you<3
Some good news and it's not political :-)
I had scans on Monday and saw the doctor today, all is clear. 13 months after chemo finished to the day. YAHOO!!
Still those side effects to be dealt with, but overall doing well and back to normal - whatever that is?? Be afraid - Lawrence too is back in full force ;-)
Thanks for all the love, prayers, thoughts & support. Grateful and blessed for each and everyone of you and every day a gift <3
Be well, warm and always my love & abs <3
For those that I may have missed in the emails, I just wanted to send out a quick update and my best wishes and blessings of the Season to you and your's.
I am grateful to be here and still sharing life with all of you <3. It has indeed been a year of strengthening and getting back to normal and all of you are to thank for that. My family, friends – near & far - and all of you that have supported and sent prayers during my battle and to date, survivorship. THANK YOU - forever and always. All seems pretty good on the health front, as of a couple of weeks ago - the blood showed a little anemia and low platelets (perchance the season of dancing madness??!!), nothing the doctor seemed overly concerned with, but will review when I go in for scans again in February. Feet and left leg are still dealing with neuropathy and the back is just an ole man’s back (too many lifts in my career!!), – but it hasn’t stopped me from teaching and also performing!!
There is so much that I am thankful and grateful for that a posting could never be enough to state or list on. I have always felt that I lived each day as if it may be my last and enjoyed every second – good or bad – and taken something from it. There are always uncertain times for us and challenges along the way, more lie ahead I am sure, but for now I want to embrace each of you and say thank you and may God bless you and yours during this Season and into the New Year. Life is a gift and you are my present…….always and forever in my heart <3.
Faith, trust, love, hope, peace, believe, live.
With love, thanks, some abs and heartfelt wishes of the season to you all<3.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire,
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times.
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are
also thankful for the setbacks.
GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles
and they can become your blessings.
Hope your summer has been great and not too hot!!
I just wanted to take a minute and send a little update out and catch you up on things.
Saw the doctor yesterday and there is good reason to celebrate ;-) All scans are clear and he says I'll see him in December for labs and then likely February for scans again. YAHOO!! Grateful for the good news and just wanted to share. Man what a difference a year can make!!
Dealing with minor issues like those numb feet and leg a bit. Getting the back checked out next week, likely just from throwing girls around (in a balletic way ;-)!!) for so many years, but want to be sure that's not causing the numbing issues. Yes, there's that age thing too to consider, but let's not go there :-D Left hip has some pain going on, so checking to make sure not from the bone marrow tap done last year and again likely more from turning out (the right way - from the hips!!) for these many years. Ahhhhh the life of a dancer ;-)
All in all - I'm hanging in and feeling overall much more like myself and have even had sightings of "Lawrence" along the way :-)
I was hoping to make an extra trip back to NYC and maybe even Florida this month, but with the doctors and "life" happenings don't think it will be happening. Wherever you are - I LOVE YA and I'm thinking of you <3!!!
Sending my best your way and always my love, abs & thanks <3 Keep in touch!!
Til next we meet, dance or do abs..................<3 :-D

I am so very grateful and blessed by all of you that have written, gifted, shared, sent words of memories, support & love. I will get to each of you here online and personally when time allows for me. I go in for round 6 on Friday a.m. and have a 4 class day tomorrow, so for now I must prep and slumber. I wish I could hug each and everyone of you , but I am in hopes that this may someday come to pass, when I have my way;-) For now, it is an air hug to each of you for all you continue to inspire me to do. God Bless and Thank YOU!! Love & abs♥
Dear One - your beauty and strength of spirit shine through! They were always present and are what made it such a blessing to dance together for so long. CONGRATS on reaching the $ goal - and - here's the kicker - when you've supported so many folks for so long in so many ways, it is a blessing for all of us to be able to give back. When the new year hits and those pesky deductibles raise their ugly little heads - we'll still be here to help again. Because you deserve it and we love you. So there.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For any & all good news. WE WILL TAKE IT! Sending love and strength and grace. SMOOCH! Martha
