Transport to Adopter to be Trained as Service Dog
Cordy was a dumped American Foxhound who was picked up on a county road in Conway, AR after she tried to climb into the car of a passing rescuer searching for an injured dog. An adopter in Seattle, WA is adopting her after discussing Cordy with her Service Dog Trainer, who says that Cordy is perfect for the training. Cordy will be trained as a Medical Alert and Wheelchair Assistance Service Dog for a woman near Seattle with Cerebral Palsy, seizure disorder and spastic episodes. She will be trained to alert to seizures, and lay across her to prevent her falling from the wheelchair, and will help her with day-to-day tasks like pushing elevator buttons, picking up items dropped on the floor, or retrieving items from across the room, and much more. In addition, the husband is a disabled Navy veteran.
Because the adopters are on a fixed income, and I'm really excited for this opportunity for Cordy, I'm raising the money for the adopters to pay for the flight and the transport kennel required to fly. The flight is about $550 from Dallas/Ft Worth to Seattle, WA. The kennel and required food/water dishes for the flight are about $75. I will also need to pay gas for a volunteer to drive her from central Arkansas to Dallas to catch her flight, and drive back. I want to get Cordy to Seattle as soon as possible so she can settle in for a bit before jumping into the extensive training required (takes about two years). I will book the flight and find a volunteer to drive her to Dallas as soon as I can get the funds raised. Any additional funds that are collected, they can use toward the vetting and health certificate needed for transport, and help pay for Cordy's training (it will cost them $5,000). I would LOVE to be able to pay for all of her training! Cordy will be with her owner 24/7 and will go everywhere with her.
