20 years ago Future Leaders Underprivileged Children’s Centre, was built by the late sir Billa Mahmud. His vision was to take children in the most impoverished areas of Accra, Ghana off the streets and provide them with the education and care every child deserves.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to get to know the children and teachers of this school, their gratitude and happiness despite having very little is inspiring! The children of this school truly changed my life!
It broke my heart to find out that the school is being evicted from their current land, and are being forced to move to a new plot of land, however the school do not have the finances to make this move or build a new school. Without the school hundreds of children will go without education, food or care as the lunch provided by the school is the only meal some of the children receive each day. The kids are currently being taught under a tree on the empty plot of land. These children have huge dreams and visions for their future and are truly the next future leaders of Ghana and the world! However, without the opportunity for education their potential can never grow.
Therefore, I am fundraising to help contribute to the movement of the current structure and the building of a new school for these children. Not only for the children I have gotten to know and love but for all the underprivileged children who are on the street that this school can provide a way out for. To build a school is to build a future! And for just a small donation, you could be part of that!
As well as care for the children, the school also take in volunteers (much like myself) to help teach the kids. So if you wanted to meet the children and see the work your money is going towards, and/or wanted to have the hands on experience of helping these children, you can! A small donation can change a life, which can change the world.
