Funeral Services for Matthew Tirado

Donation protected
Matthew Tirado was an amazing and very likable student who walked into Burns Latino Studies Academy a few years ago for only a few weeks before moving on to another school. Although he had limited verbal communication abilities because of his autism, he was able to communicate his feelings, and I, along with other staff members at the school, fell IN LOVE with him. On Tuesday, February 14, 2017, Matthew passed away tragically. You may have seen the articles in the news. The family is still trying to raise funds for the service. I am reaching out to my friends and educators to see if anyone can help the family.

Every morning, Matthew used to sit in the main office while I got ready for school and did announcements. He made everyone smile, including me. It was how we connected. We took a photo together before he left, and I kept it by my computer while I was principal because I wanted to still see his smile in the morning before I started school. I have thought of him often, and I will miss him.

May he rest in peace.

We love you, Matthew.

A wake will be held at the De Leon Funeral Home, 104 Main Street in Hartford, on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 10am-1:30pm and at 2:00pm is the burial.
.
Update: I increased the goal dollar amount to help raise funds for his headstone.
