Fernando Gutierrez Funeral

On Sunday, May 13, 2018 (Mother's Day), Fernando Gutierrez, 22, was riding his Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle on State Route 20 near Diablo Road. As Fernando was riding, he rounded a curve that had loose gravel and lost control of his bike, which led to striking a tree. Responders tried to revive him for about hour, but were unable to and Fernando passed away.
Fernando also known as "Fern" or "Nano" grew up in Skagit Valley and comes from a very tight-knit family. He has touched the lives of many people with his positive attitude and kind heart. Fernando was the type of person who always had a smile on his face and loved to help people. It would be hard to catch him not smiling!
Today, we celebrate his life as he leaves behind so many people that loves him dearly. His mother, Monica Martinez who many people know as a long-time employee of Anacortes Safeway; His father Guillermo Gutierrez; His sisters Beatriz, Miryam, Gabby, and Angie; His niece Andrea; His girlfriend of 4 years, Jennifer Green; His dogs Gator and Chico, and many, many friends. Fernando and his father were especially close. They were like two best friends who bonded over cars. Guillermo and Fernando loved fixing up cars or trucks together.
Losing Fernando is devastating for everyone who loves him. Donations will be going to the funeral costs and other related expenses. Please donate if you can, so his family can spend this time celebrating his life and grieving, rather than worrying about the many expenses that's to come.
