Funeral Expenses for Phillip Calvin
Update: Phillip's funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Chapel of Angels, 717 Stover Ave., SW in Albuquerque, NM. He will be interred at the community cemetery at Torreon Navajo Mission in Torreon, N.M. A reception will follow the burial at the Ojo Encino Chapter House in Ojo Encino, NM.
On November 3, 1988, the Calvin family was gifted with a beautiful son, grandson, nephew, future uncle and ultra social diva named after his grandfather, Phillip Cary Calvin. He was our treasure from the very start. We watched in wonder as he grew up and brought new ideas and magic into our lives. He grew into an amazing young man, who befriended nearly everyone he encountered. Upon graduation from Gallup High School in 2007, Phillip began taking courses at the University of New Mexico. He loved everything about Albuquerque and decided to make it his home.
Last week, his beloved friend Alyssa went to see Phillip and was alarmed when she noticed it looked like her friend had not been home for a few days. She informed his aunt Carolyn and together they started seeking information about where he may have gone. After a couple of excruciating days of waiting for new information, Alyssa recruited his friends to fan through the city to search for Phillip. They found this Jeep parked at the Hispanic Cultural Center. Sadly, the search ended at the Rio Grande. Our dear Phillip had traveled on to the spirit world. There is much speculation about the nature of his death. We were informed an official cause would be determined within 30-90 days.
In the meantime, we are now preparing for his funeral which will happen on Saturday, Nov. 19, in the Albuquerque area. Mortuary expenses have come to a total of $10,116.23. Friends and family have asked where they may make contributions and in response, we set this page up along with a link to a PayPal account we posted on his Facebook page. Last week was one of the most difficult of our lives. It was terrifying not knowing where Phillip had ventured to. It was devastating to find we lost a bright, lovely spirit. We puzzled about many things but most what we wanted was him safe and sound with us still. We will spend the rest of our lifetimes missing him and his beautiful smile and laughter. Thank you to all friends and relatives who contributed to his life in any way. We are doing our best to make a fitting tribute to the life our dear Phillip. Ahxéhee'
