There are worse things in life than getting your possessions stolen, like losing David Bowie and Prince in the same year. We could use some cheering up, and we all know that nothing is nearly as fun as running through a library in a gorilla suit while snagging an Oscar Wilde play on your way out, or dodging the naked bikers with your car in Missoula. Still, driving down the highway with your head out the window shouting showtunes at 80 miles an hour cannot entirely drown out the huge bummer feeling you have about someone stealing all your business equipment. So many thoughts were running through my head like, "How am I going to support my son now? I wonder how they would feel if they knew I was a single mom? What if David Bowie reincarnated as my Labrador and thats why she insists on wearing spandex?" My thoughts were quickly interrupted by my 9 year old who was copying my movements, so I took advantage of the moment and began to shake my chest and stick my tongue out at him. We had started the roadtrip so I could start a career in a new city, but before we even arrived, my career was stolen out the back of my moving truck. Arriving at our destination without my equipment, I sat and thought, "There has got to be other cool people out there who would jump into a pool with their clothes on, open an umbrella indoors, silly walk across a bridge, and maybe even donate to help me get my business back on track."
