Funds for the Fitzs

On May 8th 2019, Scott was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the young age of 42. He is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment in hospital.  This news came as a shock and the doctors have moved very quickly due to the aggressiveness of the cancer. His hospital stay will likely be lengthy, with many follow up appointments over the next 2-3 years.

This GoFundMe account was setup by friends of the Fitzsimmons family to enable friends, family, people of their community and beyond who have voiced a desire to help the Fitzsimmons family financially as they walk through this cancer journey to do so.

The journey that this loving family has been placed on is going to be challenging as there are many unknown factors. Everyone’s journey is as unique as they are, which also means that all the expenses that are going to arise are unknown as well.

Currently, with the increase in travel Sharlene has incurred larger fuel expenses and hospital parking expenses. This also means future maintenance on the vehicle can be expected as well. We want to ensure Sharlene can freely travel without worry of expenses. Once Scott is home from the hospital the travel will likely continue for some time for continued treatment and follow up appointments.

As we, his friends, sit and reflect on who Scott and his family are to us and the community that they serve, they can best be described as a Rock-Star family.  They are known by many people and instead of a large fan-base they have a large friend-base.

Many around the community recognize Scott’s voice rather than his face, he is one of our local radio announcers. They can give testimony to his love to laugh and his heartwarming sense of humour. And for those who recognize Scott by face, we can say we know him to always be wearing a smile.  The same is known for his wife and three children. They are a happy and loving family.

The love that Scott and this family has spread throughout many communities over the years is the reason why so many want to surround them and help them in any possible way during this difficult time. For it is not a giving of ourselves but a returning of what they have given to all of us.

As friends and family, it is hard to watch this amazing and loving family walk through this difficult part of their journey. They are doing it with such great courage, faith and positivity it surpasses all understanding. Scott confidently and with a warm smile assures those around him, “God is not done with me yet, He has more planned for me.” Even now in one of the most difficult times they will face in their lives they are an exemplary example of how to live life: face everything with confidence in God, the one who created you, a smile on your face and a hope in your heart.

The only request the family has made from others is that they pray as they feel Jesus leads them, and that God is glorified through this. That is why we are so willing to give and make a way available for many of you to give a financial blessing to the Fitzsimmons family. If you feel like you would like to contribute financially and help relieve some of the financial stress they are and will likely face, we encourage you to do so. Please know that every donation will go to their family and will be appreciated greatly. We thank you in advance on behalf of the Fitzsimmons family.
