Funds for Malia’s Family

Donation protected
Malia went in to the Queen’s West hospital on the morning of Monday, September 24, for unusual behavior... By that afternoon, she was transferred to Queen’s Punchbowl when doctors detected a mass the size of a ping pong ball and several smaller lesions on her brain.  The smaller lesions may be calcium build up from radiation she received as a young child fighting leukemia.
They tried to do an MRI on Tuesday but she was not able to keep still for it... As we awaited an MRI under anesthesia, Malia fell into a coma on Wednesday morning. The doctors said the swelling in her brain put too much pressure on her brain stem. Doctors have been giving Malia meds to bring swelling down and she has shown slight improvements. We are hoping they will be able to do the MRI today, September 28, so doctors can have a better picture of what’s going on and maybe figure why a healthy 44-year old woman’s health and mental state has declined so rapidly.
Malia is a single mother with four children. Joseph(23), Benjamin(22), and Rebekah(20) are all college students and work full-time. Rebekah actually flew down from University of Portland to be with her mom. Luke(15) is a freshman in high school. If you are able to help her family with the financial toll that her sudden illness it will be much appreciated... Most of all we ask for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time for the family.  Mahalo for your time and may you hold the ones closest to you tightly, tell them you love them constantly, and cherish each day that you have been blessed with! God bless you!
