Fundraiser for Tom Taylor & Family

Tom Taylor is a positive and friendly guy. Tom is very private. Given his upbeat disposition to friends some may not know that he has been in treatment for infections and an amputation for five years now.

First diagnosed in December of 2013 with an infection in his big toe from a simple scrape received from a palm frond in the garden outside his home turned into a fight that he never could have imagined. In January of 2015 after months of intravenous antibiotics daily at home doctors determined amputating the toe was necessary to keep the infection from spreading through his leg. Unfortunately this didn’t stop the infections from reoccurring which have persisted on and off for 6 years now, during which time he has been diagnosed with Charcot foot on the other leg making walking difficult and aggravating what we already knew he needed prior to all of this, hip replacements. Recently as we are testing for now it appears that his body is being attacked by arthritis which can often occur after a severe infection. This has made his ability to walk and get around extremely limited. Right now he can't do it without assistance and medical aid. Looking forward and after speaking with his doctors he knows his best chance for a normal life is to look to these corrective procedures soon and the medical equipment necessary to live a more independent life.

Tom has been a salesman his whole life and until his last hospitalization in July he was working from home. He unfortunately lost that job for missing too many days of work because of unexplained episodes of fatigue and vertigo which during his most recent hospitalization was discovered to be AFib. Tom is receiving disability benefits which are woefully inadequate to meet the obligations of a dual income family with two kids, one in college, the other going fall of next year.

Tom and Gloria are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support they've received in the past from their doctors and the communities they live and work in.  The focus now must turn to Tom and his family and the financial stress they are experiencing.

Of course his ultimate plan is to fight hard to get to what his new normal is with his altered physical state and learn to cope with the aid of special medical equipment, prosthetics and whatever will assist him in leading as close to an independent lifestyle as possible,  but medical insurance only covers the basics and he needs much more than that to have mobility for the rest of his life.

Please consider contributing what you can to this fund to help toward the mounting medical bills, medical equipment for mobility and helping this family stay in their home.
