Fundraiser for Colin Johnson & The Northerner

Hey Norse Nation! So we have a little call-to-action for you! Many of you know about the student-run media outlet called The Northerner and if you don't you are MISSING OUT.
They provide fantastic content for all things on and around campus. This includes a team that they've assigned to cover the Norse Men's Basketball team. That team includes a photographer who has taken some of the BEST photos of another magical Norse season, Colin Johnson. Seriously, this guy's photos are amazing!! Don't believe me? Okay, here's a little taste:
But there's one problem... In the aftermath of the Norse Men's Basketball Team's Horizon League Championship title win, the team got a LITTLE crazy with the water celebration, and Colin ended up taking a spill. He's completely fine.... But there was one casualty. His camera took the brunt of the fall, and it ended up needing to be repaired. Colin shoots with his own equipment, and after reading his post in the page, it inspired me to reach out to some of the editors over at The Northerner to see what their funding situation is like.
Turns out, they are a student run organization, that like many organizations, is underfunded and even requires students who want to participate to use a lot of their own equipment. Colin shoots with a $5,000 camera (YES, cameras DO cost that much -- it's CRAZY) and the cost to repair his own, personal camera fell on him!
I heard that, and I just couldn't deal with it. I decided that the right thing to do is to rally Norse Nation to see if we can help Colin get his camera repaired AND ALSO see if we can exceed the cost of the repairs and send a nice donation to the Northerner to help support independent, STUDENT RUN media.
This is what this page is for. This is an opportunity to do something special in our community.
ALL DONATIONS WILL BE USED FOR THE FOLLOWING:
- First $1,100 goes to the cost of repairing Colin's camera (yes, it actually costs a TON to repair a $5,000 camera!)
- Next $900 (until we hit goal) will go to The Northerner, and will be used as a discretionary fund for any immediate needs that the organization may have.
- Any excess $$$ over the goal will be sent to The Northerner to begin a plan to purchase equipment for the students to use so they no longer have to use their own!!
*Colin and the entire team from The Northerner that covered the Men's Basketball Team will be back for next season.
