Fundraiser for Mathias Wagner!

Donation protected
Our good friend Mathias was recently diagnosed with cancer .
I know many people are wanting to help him out and with his permission I am creating this go fund me to do just that!

Anyone who has seen a loved one go thru treatments for cancer knows all the hidden costs associated with recieving treatment . Whether it be parking fees at the hospital , gas money or money for a hotel when travelling to specialist appts in Vancouver and who knows where else ...Or out of pocket fees for very needed medication ...
This doesn't include the fact that people aren't able to work during treatment, and still have to find a way to pay their rent or mortgage and all the same bills as if they still have the same income coming in .

For those who don't know the long path to Mathias even being able to get his diagnoses  . This is how it went .

"It all started back in mid August when I noticed my stomach getting very large and rounded. I went to see my family Dr but all he came up with was tight muscles in my back that were pulling back and expanding my abdomen. 3 weeks later with no change I asked for some tests to be done and thats when I got an ultrasound which quickly showed my abdomen was full of fluid. I was called back into see the Dr that afternoon and an appt was booked the following week to have the fluid drained. Speaking with the drs at the hospital during my drain they all seem suprised at my age and health at why I would have this fluid backup(4 liters first drain). It was only 2 weeks after that I was in the hospital once again having 7 liters drained this time... then 3 weeks from there another 4 liters. Its mid October now and the fluid had seemed to have stopped but other complications continued like loss of appetite, fatigue, back pain. The Drs decided to do some more testing and in one of the CT scans they found a point of interest in my stomach lining. A biopsy came up negative, so many more tests continued ..including my least favorite the dreaded bone marrow test! It had been many more weeks turning to months with no answers and continued negative results.

It was decided the next course of action was to send me to Vancouver for another biopsy. On April 12th, everything was booked and planned and was only days away. But that Monday morning just days before flying out I received a call from the Vancouver cancer society saying a Dr was visiting their facility and during his stay he over looked your file and ran testing on your old biopsy. The Dr was able to find a cancer match for me that the hospital didnt have in there system... "

This cancer is a rare one especially in someone his age . Mesothelioma of the abdomen .
There are very few doctors who specialize in his specific cancer.

"Because this cancer is so rare, doctors lacking experience with the disease often misdiagnose mesothelioma patients with more common illnesses that share similar symptoms. This is a serious misstep that delays proper treatment."- The Mesothleioma Centre

He is now just starting treatment for it with chemotherapy .

Let's help take some of the stress off of our friend by donating so he can focus on getting better !

He has managed to stay positive throughout this whole ordeal and anyone who knows him ,knows him for his loving and friendly personality . I know 100% he would do this for any of his friends going thru the same so let's do whatever we can to support him getting healthy again!! ❤
