"Baby Beckett, son of Sarah and Brandon Nau, was born on September 2, 2017, the same day that the University of Iowa Hawkeye football team and crowd initiated their famous "Wave" for the patients and their families in the Stead Family Children's Hospital.

After a couragious battle against the genetic odds, he left our world on March 10, 2018.

His obituary:

Shortly after birth, Beckett was diagnosed with partial Trisomy 14 and partial Trisomy 16, which created many medical battles for him and challenges for him and his family.   He is the only documented case of this exact chromosomal mutation in the world.

Beckett spent five of his six months in the University of Iowa Hospitals.  Sarah spent over 100 nights by Beckett's side, including the months that she communted to her job as teacher librarian at Mark Twain Elementary.

Brandon visited by day and returned to Bettendorf, Iowa each afternoon to parent the couple's newly adopted teenaged brothers and to coach for Bettendorf High School.

His family, friends, and the community here and beyond grew to love this little baby, this fierce fighter who loved cuddles, lights, and the music of "Moana," this inspiration to others to "pray more, love more," to quote his great-uncle.
