Some of Australia's most successful bands were borne from the pubs and clubs in Sydney - but in 2016, our lock out laws and venue noise restrictions have begun to kill our live music scene, and with it, the ability for our up and coming musicians to break onto the national and international stage.
My name is Brynn. I am a 22 year old working music journalist from Sydney with a passion for breathing new life to TV music journalism. Before Sydney's lock out laws our city was a breeding ground for musical talent. In the past few years we’ve seen a 40% drop in music ticket sales and revenue, a 19% decline in attendances across all live venues and a 15% fall in the amount venues spent on live performers (APRA AMCOS). How do up and coming aritsts create hype in a city that’s void of a nightlife?
I am starting up a web series - LunchBox TV - which will provide a new platform to launch bands from the Northern Beaches and the greater Sydney metro area into the music industry. We are part of a wider solution to breathing new life into Sydney's injured music scene.
We're a small (tiny) team of volunteers and collaborators who are running off one dollar ‘711’ coffees and an unquenchable love and enthusiasm for Australian music. We are reaching out for donations to assist the launch of LunchBox TV by September 2016.
Wireless lapel microphones, boom mics, lighting equipment, insurance, contracts and sharing fees are all expensive - and necessary - to produce a polished, professional and successful podcast that has the best chance of becoming the go-to show for music lovers, bands and industry professionals alike. We need your help! 100% of donations will go towards buying these final items required to get LunchBox TV off the ground!
We want to be part of the solution to our struggling music industry and help young people like ourselves achieve their rock 'n' roll dreams of packed out shows and international tours. It all starts with exposure, and that's where LunchBox TV will be - where it all begins.
