Summer 2016 Competition Funds

My name is Jackie Ehlers. I am a Senior at South Eugene High School and will be graduating this June. I have been training in Taekwondo for six years. Every summer I compete at national and international martial art competitions. This June will be my fourth year participating in the U.S. Open Taekwondo Hanmadang, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I have earned the gold medal in Creative Breaking and Speed Spinning hook kick for the last three years. 2015 was my first time competing at the U.S. Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships in Orlando, Florida. I competed in the power hand break and the jumping high kick, taking first place in both. This summer I will be old enough to take part in the ISKA power concrete kicking- which will be televised on ESPN! I will also be competing along side my teacher, Sloane Cameron, who placed 5th in that division last year.

In addition to the US Hanmadang and the ISKA Championships, this year is special because I have the opportunity to go to the World Taekwondo Hanmadang in South Korea. This is a Kukkiwon promoted event and it is one of the largest Taekwondo tournaments in the world. This will be the first year the World Taekwondo Hanmadang will feature a women's power breaking division, which makes 2016 an important year for competition. The reason I am starting this page is to ask for some financial help, from friends and family, to contribute anything that you can to make these trips possible for me. The funds will be used for airfare, hotels, and tournament entry fees, all of which are estimated to cost $4,600.  Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
