Welcome to our go fund me campaign.
I'm looking to raise money for Frank Johnson, a friend’s Dad who was the victim of a bicycle crash due to possible council negligence in the shape of what is thought to be a possibly badly maintained road surface. Frank currently resides in an Essex nursing home with life changing brain injuries.
It’s suspected that The Highways Agency are playing a delaying tactic game in admitting liabilty and have delayed providing evidence which, by law, they have a responsibility to do within a certain time frame. The time in which to do so has now been well exceeded.
My own father ended up in a similar situation many years ago, he came off his motorbike due to proven council negligence... He and we (myself and my family) suffered for many years. Growing up I watched him deteriorate and sadly we lost him in 2004 at the age of 62 due to sustained and prolonged brain injuries.... Therefore my motivation to help a friend in a similar situation is immense, for years I’ve wanted to do some kind of charity event in memory of my Dad and I’m proud to say that now’s my chance.
We simply cannot rest until justice is brought to the Johnson family who are close friends, that have suffered enough and are struggling to cope with the agony and anxiety brought upon them due to this situation.
The core aim is to raise money (at least £8000) that will go towards specialist neuro-rehabilitation treatment to aide Frank's recovery and legal fees (and if there's enough left a new made to measure armchair for when Frank has afternoons at home with the family). This figure is just a minimum, as the fees are astronomical and contribution from the Local Authority could be pulled without much notice.
Two fund raising events planned this year include the following;
The first event is the 'UK Running events 5k obstacle run' at Chelmsford racecourse in Essex on 16th June 2018. (please see link below). My wife, children, friends and Frank's family are very proud to be taking part in this fun event!
The second event involves myself cycling from London (West Ham United FC/Olympic park) to Southend (Southend United FC), this event will commence on a date to be confirmed in late 2018. I'm thrilled to be taking on this challenge!
