Fund me for Global Politics School!

Hello!

I recently got accepted for a Global Politics Seasonal School in Jordan, organized by Freie University Berlin and the German Jordanian University. The two-week intensive program will consist of various conferences, sessions and research workshops on "Migration in the Middle East and Europe: Challenges and Opportunities". With the recent turn against migrants and the rise of the right-wing, I feel this is an incredibly important issue of concern and will offer me the opportunity to not only present my learning on general global political trends, impact of middle eastern politics within Asia and outside but also learn more about the region via first-hand experience and engagement with academicians, researchers and other members of the local community. From my previous trips to Berlin and Brussels, I understand the importance of on-ground learning resulting in a nuanced understanding of issues, local perspectives and evolution of ideas.

Academics (especially the social sciences), have a definite disadvantage in terms of funding and research grants. However, I wouldn't want to miss this opportunity due to lack of funds. While the program is graciously funded by DAAD, travel and accommodation has to be taken care of by the participants themselves, which I'm currently struggling with. It would mean a lot to me if you could contribute absolutely anything to my fund, so that I can travel to Amman and attend the program. While I have picked up extra shifts at my part-time job to cover at least half the costs, I'd really appreciate any help. Especially, as academics and activists, I feel we can build a stronger community by supporting each other rather than a forever ongoing cut-throat competition and stealing ideas. I'd be very grateful for any support, even if you can simply share this post. (I completely understand if you do not have funds right now, or are struggling, just a share will also help me.)

The funds raised will only be used to pay for the flights from London to Amman (£270-350), accommodation (subsidized by the organizers) and visa entry costs in Jordan. Thank you so much. :)
