On January 31st a fire destroyed the business of a dear family member Ezio Metallo. His barbershop in Sault Ste. Marie has been part of the downtown fabric for 15 years.

We have started this go-fund-me page to help him get back on his feet and open up a new shop as soon as possible. This is an urgent ask as the fire completely destroyed the building with all of his equipment, chairs...everything...and has put him out a job.

Ezio's customers will tell you countless stories of him showing up early or staying late to accommodate their needs. He has helped Groomsmen get to weddings on time, children overcome their fear of their first haircut and many seniors with a home visit at no extra charge. He cares for his customers. His customers are his family.

What further adds to this story and why we're doubling our efforts to rally around him and his family, given the added hardship they have endured this year. Only a few months ago he lost his daughter unexpectedly.

So this is an ask from us to you, to help our Ezio and his family, our family.

Donate any $ amount you can spare and share this link with more family and friends and Saultites in town and around the world, who can help.

Click here to watch this CTV interview with Ezio (Jan 31).

We've attached a few photos of Ezio, the news coverage and also positive memories such as his grandson's first hair cut only 2 weeks ago.

Ezio Metallo is a good man. He deserves our helping hand during his difficult time..and we thank you for taking the time.

Ezio and I would like to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone who donated and helped spread the word.

You made a difference and changed someone's life for the better.

We received overwhelming support from family and friends from all over the world. From Ezio's incredible and dedicated clientèle in the Soo area. From total strangers in the Soo and across Canada and other countries.

We wish we were better writers so we could properly express our feelings. Instead, I'll leave you with this, which is what you've been waiting to hear, Ezio WILL BE opening up a new place in the Northgate Plaza at 166 Great Northern road!

Stay tuned for more details.

And with that we'll be closing this gofundme page.

Sincerely,
Ezio and Matt

A quick update for everyone. First off we wanted to say thank you for helping Ezio. Because of you, we were able to raise $10,000 in less then 24 hours!

I also wanted to share the special moments. Family, friends, clients (who are also our friends and family) all pulled together because that's what we do.

In total so far nearly 200 people reached out and changed someone's life for the better.

There were numerous clients who's children get their haircut at ezio's along with stories of their first haircuts.

There was an elementary class who donated from a guardian angel fund.

There were 2 huge Facebook groups that were instrumental in getting the message out, thank you to Jason and the admins at "You know you're from the Soo when" and "Aiellesi nel Mondo"

Even #teamBlackBerry made a number of donations and blog posts all because Ezio has been using BlackBerry's for years.

There were current and former Saultites who donated and didn't even know who he was, they just wanted to help someone from our city.

There were local barber shops that offered a free chair so he can instantly start servicing his clients.

There were local newspapers, blogs and media outlets that helped us get the story out. Thank you to Saultstar, Sootoday, Sault Online and CTV Sault Ste Marie.

Tonight catch our follow-up CTV interview!

Note that we're going to keep the fund going a little longer because some people have told us they haven't had the chance to donate yet and it is going to cost a lot more to get up and running again.
