Mateusz Zymanczyk is 25 years old and lives in Tarnowiec near Wrocław in Poland. His life changed dramatically on August 18, 2017 when he was hospitalized due to intense abdominal pain. After 15 hours of waiting and the following examinations, his doctors ascertained immediate surgery was necessary since his life was in danger.
After surgery, Mateusz was brought to the intensive care unit in critical condition. He was diagnosed with a twisted bowel and necrosis, septic shock, severe and acute kidney injury, and obstruction of the duodenum and half of the transverse colon.
Mateusz has undergone four surgeries. Doctors had to remove half of the large intestine and gradually the entire small intestine. Meanwhile he developed cachexia as he lost about 30 kg. Currently Mateusz receives parental nutrition. Because of the severity of his condition, he requires a transplantation of the large and small intestines and the liver. He would undergo surgery in France as these operations are not performed in Poland. The costs of this operation sum up to a little more than one million Euros.
This operation is Mateusz's only option to return to a normal life. Right now, he is enlisted for the transplantation in France but requires monetary support to fund the operation. The transplantation would mean he could gradually start eating and drinking as well as continue his studies at university. Please help Mateusz to regain his life.
Presently, Mateusz is eagerly awaiting the decision of the Polish National Health Fund (NFZ) to cover the costs of the medical operation. In case of a positive outcome of this decision, Mateusz would only have to cover the expenses for his hospitalization and recovery after the surgery which would take about six months. This would also decrease expenses to a couple thousand Euros. As soon as a decision is made, this post will be updated immediately.

Mateusz Zymanczyk ist 25 Jahre alt und wohnt in Tarnowiec nahe Breslau in Polen. Sein Leben änderte sich drastisch am 18.08.2017. An diesem Tag landete er im Krankenhaus mit starken Bauchschmerzen. Nach 15 Stunden Wartezeit und nach anschließenden Untersuchungen wurde festgestellt, dass er dringend operiert werden muss, weil sein Leben in Gefahr war.
Mateusz wurde nach der OP im kritischen Zustand auf die Intensivstation gebracht. Er bekam die folgende Diagnose: Dünndarmverdrehung und Nekrose, septischer Schock, schweres akutes Nierenversagen, Darmverschluss im Zwölffingerdarm und im querlaufenden Grimmdarm in der Hälfte der Länge.
Mateusz wurde bisher insgesamt viermal operiert. Ihm musste die Hälfte des Dickdarms und der ganze Dünndarm nach und nach entfernt werden. Zwischendurch wurde Kachexie festgestellt, er hat 30 Kilo abgenommen. Mateusz wird zurzeit parenteral ernährt. Aufgrund seines schweren Gesundheitszustands benötigt er eine Transplantation von Dünn- und Dickdarm sowie der Leber. Diese Operation würde in Frankreich durchgeführt werden, da dies in Polen nicht möglich ist. Die Kosten der Operation betragen knapp über 1 Million Euro.
Diese Operation bedeutet für Mateusz die Rückkehr in ein normales Leben: Er wird nach und nach normal essen und trinken können. Er würde sein Studium wieder aufnehmen können. Bitte helft Mateusz sein Leben zurückzugewinnen!
Mateusz wartet zurzeit auf die Entscheidung des polnischen Nationalen Gesundheitsfonds (NFZ), ob dieser die Kosten der Operation übernimmt. In diesem Falle würde das hier gespendete Geld alle Kosten des notwendigen ca. 6-monatigen Aufenthalts nach der OP in Frankreich decken. Diese würden sich auf mehrere Tausend Euro verringern. Sobald die Entscheidung des NFZs steht, werden wir hier eine Information diesbezüglich veröffentlichen.
