Guatemala Fuego: Search after deadly volcano eruption
Soldiers are helping firefighters search for missing people after Sunday's horrific volcanic eruption in Guatemala, when torrents of superheated rock, ash and mud destroyed villages.
The official death toll from the destruction at the Fuego volcano has risen to 62, the authorities say.
Thousands of people are being housed in temporary shelters.
Volcanologists report the eruption, which sent ash up to 10km (33,000ft) into the sky, is now over.
The eruption also generated pyroclastic flows - fast-moving mixtures of very hot gas and volcanic matter - descending down the slopes, engulfing communities such as El Rodeo and San Miguel Los Lotes.

Jorge Luis Altuve, part of Guatemala's mountain rescue brigade, told the BBC how he and his colleagues had been up on the mountain searching for a missing person when they realised that the volcano's activity had suddenly increased.
He heard something hitting his safety helmet and realised that it was not rain that was falling but stones.
"We'd already started our descent... when the ash cloud reached us and day turned into night. From daylight it went to being as dark as at 10pm," he said.

Jackie Amezquita ( a Guatemalan artist based in Los Angeles, California) and I (Andrea Sofia Santizo, Guatemalan artist based in Los Angeles California) two alumni from Art Center College of Design, are attempting to organize our communities in Los Angeles in order to raise 5,000.00, this is to assist the volunteer firefighters in three sub-stations (who operate outside of the national firefighter budgets and funds.) This will help purchase equipment needed for the
The monetary groups will be:
The 5,000.00 to be split up between the three volunteer firefighter sub-stations of Totonicapan, Solola, and Quetzaltenango. These sub-stations are manned by a team of roughly ten people who are usually working on volunteer basis unless an altruistic individual pays their monthly salary. They are putting their lives on the line and going into the ashes and disaster areas to search for survivors and to unearth the deceased.
2. We have been blessed with a pledge from Manuel Santizo to pay for the shipping of the boxe mentioned below, the full balance of the GoFundMe will go to the volunteer firefighters.

Los soldados unen fuerzas con los bomberos voluntarios para poder localizar a los desaparecidos este Domingo después de la erupción del Volcan de Fuego en Guatemala. Lava, ceniza y rocas volcánicas destruyeron en su paso comunidades enteras. El estimado total de muertes de acuerdo a la información que han compartido las autoridades Guatemaltecas es de 62 personas. Miles de personas han sido acomodadas en refugios temporales.
Vulcanólogos reportan que la erupción alcanzo aproximadamente 10km o 33 mil pies de altura. Afortunadamente la erupción a cesado pero los daños han afectado a casi 1.8 millones de Guatemaltecos.
Jorge Luis Altuve, parte de la Brigada de Rescate Militar de Guatemala le comento a BBC siglas en Inglés ( British Broadcasting corporación ) como el y sus colegas estaban en la montaña buscando a los desaparecidos cuando la energía volcánica empezó a incrementar. El empezó a sentir como cosas extrañas empezaron a golpear en su casco y se percató que no era lluvia si no rocas. “Empezamos a descender ...cuando la nube de cenizas nos alcanzo y el día se volvió noche. Parecían como que la luz de la mañana se tornaba entre las 10 de la noche” nos comentaba.
Hay mas de 99 personas fallecidas y mas o menos 300 personas heridas, mas de 3,000 personas sin hogares y 1.8 millones de afectados y hasta 200 personas desaparecidas.

Jackie Amezquita y Andrea Santizo artistas Guatemaltecas que reciben en Los Angeles, California, graduadas de la Universidad de Art Center College Of Design están Organizando una recaudación de fondos y Viveros en la comunidad Angelina, su meta es recaudar $ 5,000 que ayudaran a asistir a los bomberos voluntarios de las sub-estaciones que operan fuera de los presupuestos nacionales. LAs donaciones serán divididas en dos grupos:
Los $5,000.00 seran repartido entre las tres sub-estaciones de bomberos voluntarios de Totonicapán, Solola y Quetzaltenango. Estas sub-estaciones cuentan con un equipo de aproximadamente 10 bomberos que usualmente trabajan como voluntarios y su salario es en base a donaciones, sin esta ayuda ellos no pueden recibir un salario mínimo. Ellos están poniendo sus vidas en riesgo por ayudar a otras personas y queremos ayudarlos a que tengan el equipo necesario.
