A New Theater for FAPA!

Donation protected
When we opened FAPA is 2013. we had 1500 square feet of warehouse space and about 35 students enrolled in our programming. We had a dream to build a place where students could come to learn about the performing arts in a safe, encouraging environment that nurtured individual expression, healthy relationships with peers and staff and a love of the arts. Since then, we’ve doubled our square footage and we’ve seen more than 1600 students go through our program. We’ve done almost 60 different shows in our space and we’ve sold more than 25,000 tickets! We took an old warehouse and turned it into a theater and we’re so thankful for the space we’ve been able to lovingly create for our students.

However, if you’ve ever seen a show in our space, you know we have some inherent problems. Everyone knows sound is an issue for us. If it rains, the metal roof is incredibly loud. We had to put HVAC in the space for the comfort and safety of the kids working and performing in the building, but it’s very loud and we can’t hear the kids when it’s running despite the money we’ve spent on mics, but the audience is miserable when we turn the air off; especially in the summer. We know our seats aren’t the most comfortable and our bathroom situation is dicey at best (only 2!) and the fact of the matter is that we’re just out of room.

That’s where you come in. We’ve found a wonderful property just across town in Buford. It’s a church that is selling their property and we believe that their space will work perfectly for an additional location for FAPA. Don’t worry! We’re not moving! We’re just expanding. What is now their sanctuary can be lovingly transformed into a new performance venue for our kids and their classroom space can serve as rehearsal space and there are bathrooms galore! Again! Don’t worry! Everything will still happen as it always has at FAPA, we would just move the performances of our shows to the new location and we’ll also begin to offer some classes and shows in Buford as well, which we think will benefit some of our families that we know are already driving from that area to participate in our programming.

We have put an offer in on the building and we are currently under contract, but we need to find the funds in the next few weeks to secure the mortgage with the bank. It’s a lot of money, but I believe in our community and our family and our kids and I know you do too. Will you consider helping us out? No amount is too small, but we do have a wonderful Wall of Fame that we’re planning in the new space that will showcase everyone who donates from the $100 level and above. We have small stars for the $100 donation level and large stars for the $250 donation level. We also have some brand new, limited edition, soft t-shirts for sale as a fundraiser too. We have just a few weeks to spread the word and find the money and we need your help. Please consider donating and then please share this post. Use the hashtag #friendsoffapa and we’ll work on this together. Additionally, we’re also open to the thought of an angel investor if you know someone who might be interested in a larger investment. Please contact Leigh Ann directly if you know someone who might be interested.

If every person on our email list would donate just $50, we would be completely and fully funded and we’d be ready to have our inspection and close our loan. Will you help our kids have the theater they deserve? Will you be a Friend of FAPA?
