 TALENT, OR
Our dear friend, Juan Martinez, is facing a terrible medical crisis. In April and May he began feeling very ill every time he ate and sought medical advice. It soon came to the point that he was often unable to eat at all. He began to lose a great deal of weight and to feel tired all the time. After many tests and much waiting, he has been given the diagnosis of stomach cancer. He is still waiting to know what stage the cancer is and his specific treatment plan.  Possible treatment includes surgery and/or chemotherapy. Hopefully lots of pain medication too!
In the meantime, Juan's mother in Los Angeles area is also facing medical issues and an upcoming surgery. Because she also needs support, and because both Juan and Fresbinda have many family members in Southern California, and of course there are incredible medical centers there, the Martinez family has decided to move back to Southern California.  They are now in the process of packing and finishing up work with Ballet Folklorico and other community groups they are involved in. Their current plans are to work and save money to move and to leave Medford about June 30.
Juan is heroically working as much as he can at his job to earn the money needed to move. Alondra is teaching folklorico and finishing her junior year at South High and Fres is working, packing, and keeping the family going. Julissa is finishing her first year at UO Music School and coming home often to be of support.
But the situation is overwhelming to each of them.  As you can imagine, they will need thousands of dollars for medical treatment here and later in Southern California. They immediately need money to prepare for their move and take care of medical expenses. Most of all they need any kind of relief we can offer them from the stress they  are under. By contributing to this campaign, we can show our love and support for Juan so he can work less and devote himself to his healing. With your generous contributions, the family can have the freedom to choose when to move to California based on Juan's and the family's needs rather than being tied to his paycheck. This could make a huge difference in the success of his treatment!
All funds collected from this campaign will go directly to Juan and his family. This campaign is not linked financially to Ballet Folklorico, though we will publicize it through our Facebook and ask that it be spread widely by our friends and fans.
As the campaign progresses we will mention other ways people can help Juan and his family.
Thank you for any and all contributions big and small!
Juan Martinez has given many thousands of hours of service to Ballet Folklorico and numerous other music and religious activities. Now in his hour of need, it is our opportunity to give back to him and show him our support.

Thanks to a number of new donors large and small in the last few weeks, our campaign has now raised $3,430 ! Juan is now safely in Santa Ana and in the care of cancer specialists who are helping him to stay hydrated and nourished. He has had his first round of chemotherapy and by faith and strength has made it through some difficult hours. Fresbinda and the girls have joined him in Southern California so he is now surrounded by the love of his immediate and expended family as well as his pastor and church friends. The fight is well engaged and the bills are still pouring in- so I'd like to challenge all of us friends to dig deep and contribute -for the first time or again , so that we can meet our goal of raising $5,000 and show Juan we are thinking of him, and give him some relief from the stress of money worries as he puts his energy towards healing.

We are over half way to our major goal of $5,000!!
Congratulations and a million thanks to all who have made donations! I know that these funds are already helping the Martinez family with current medical expenses and giving them support in their process of moving back to Southern California to be with family and seek specialized medical care.
So let's keep sharing this campaign with others so that we can seek out more financial contributions and make an even broader web of prayers and loving thoughts for Juan and his family.
Please consider making a second gift to help us move ahead towards our goal of $5,000. We have just 3 more weeks until moving day for the Martinez family and we want to be sure to send them off with the comfort of knowing that some of their expenses are covered. I am sure that anything we can do to support them financially will lessen some of the stress they feel and remind them that they are not alone in this crisis. Thank you and God Bless you.

Dear Friends of Juan Martinez,
We are almost to $2,000 in only 8 days!! This was our original goal for the campaign to raise money for Juan's medical bills and moving costs as he rejoins his extended family in the LA area in June and begins his stomach cancer treatment. Now as they pack up their house and get ready for the long trek south, this financial and emotional support is more needed than ever! Be the one to put us over the $2,000 mark? and better still, help us get closer to $2,500 which will be 50% of our goal amount! And keep those prayers and good wishes flowing. I know Juan and his family feel the your good energy and it helps them make through each day.

Hi Friends of Juan Martinez and family,

You are amazing!! In three days we have raised $1,500- that's $500 a day! At this rate we will reach our goal in the next week. That would give Juan and his family a huge support with their medical and moving costs and relief from some of the stress this crisis has brought them. It will allow them to make decisions on what Juan needs medically instead of forcing him to push himself to work so many hours to raise the money needed.
Yesterday the Ballet Folklorico families put on a surprise lawn party for Juan and the family at their home in Medford. Juan responded with pleasure and his customary warm hospitality as he received guests and circulated among the crowd. Fres supported our potluck by organizing the food and supplying utensils and all that we forgot, and Alondra entertained the dancers and socialized with the families. It was a warm, loving family style gathering, though bittersweet as we know that all too soon, Juan and his family will head to Southern California. Juan summed it up nicely by saying, "I will miss you all, but remember, I am only a phone call away"
Please keep the donations coming so we can advance to our goal, and please share via Facebook, email, Twitter, Instagram, and even word of mouth! You are making such a difference in this crisis. Thank you and may God bless you.
